Reception Style - Hits

Another wedding reception took place in Mumbai last night and it seems like the entire Bollywood fraternity came out to celebrate with the happy couple (Imran Khan and Avantika Malik)! A lot of the ladies seemed to gravitate towards pastel shades (with a few exceptions) and simple silhouttes were the order of the night.

Deepika Padukone wore a soft pink churidar with wavy hair and silver flats, while Sonakshi Sinha wore a long white outfit which she jazzed up with some gold & ruby earrings and a red flower in her hair updo.

Katrina Kaif's golden Tarun Tahiliani outfit looked great on her, she too opted for flat sandals and went very natural with her makeup - I think she looks better this way.

Preity Zinta's aqua outfit (Manish Malhotra) had me at the colour! The actress looks radiant. Kareena Kapoor's black sheer saree (another Manish Malhotra) had me divided... the design is really sober and all but something just seems a little wrong here I can't put my finger on it. (I'll just ignore Mr. Karan Johar standing between the two ladies there due to his ultra boring black suit.)

The colour of Twinkle Khanna's outfit may seem jarring but I'm all for a bit of bright colour; the chunky gold necklaces and clutch look great against the pink too.

Filmfare Awards - Misses

Another night, another awards event. Here are a few of the misses according to me, although in all fairness, some are only here because of some aspect of their look not working. I wish there was a proper red carpet here... instead, the celebrities are posing in a horrible grey parking lot space! Appalling, really.

First, let me get the Manish Malhotra tragedies out of the way. Both Katrina Kaif & 90's actress Urmila Matondkar wore the designer's creations. OTT is the only phrase that springs to mind. Oh another one - eye sore.

Genelia D'Souza wore a blue Versace dress with black gladiator style heels but what killed the look was the bad makeup and hair, something sleeker was needed here! Neha Dhupia wore a silk navy dress and while I liked the concept of the look, the fabric of the dress bordered on looking tacky and the bouffant was kind of uneccesary.

Star Screen Awards Style

*Probably obvious, but I'm changing the format of the blog! The writing from now on will go ABOVE the corresponding pictures.*

The annual Star Screen Awards took place in Mumbai, India last night and there were a lot of fashion disasters, which I'm just going to avoid writing about. But here are some of my favourites.
First up, Prachi Desai, in a Falguni & Shane Peacock cocktail dress. I love this dress on her, it's fun, edgy and the accessories work well.


Sonali Bendre (with her husband) wore a drapey teal number with a statement necklace. I really like the colour and the fit of the dress but maybe the necklace could have been given a miss.


Dia Mirza (on the left) went classic in a Gauri and Nainika gown, although the surprise is the deep purple colour of it.
Vidya Balan (centre) stuck to her saree - picking a Kanjeevaram in a bright orange/gold.

Katrina Kaif wore a strapless red gown by Marchesa - it's nice and all but the red gown on the red carpet just makes the gown disappear, a different colour would have worked better.

Spotted: Katrina Kaif

Indian actress Katrina Kaif visited the Big Boss set (Indian version of Big Brother) wearing a fabulous coral hued Tarun Tahiliani one shouldered gown and wore her tresses loose. I like this gown on her, it shows of her height well and the colour makes her look radiant. Seeing as the show isn't exactly an award ceremony, I'll let her off for wearing her hair down, but if it was the case of some formal ceremony, an updo would've looked fab, it would also show off the one shoulder aspect of the dress. But as it is, well done Miss Kaif.
