Miranda Kerr in Michael Kors - 2013 Met Ball

The always amazing Miranda Kerr looked stylish in black at the Costume Institute's 2013 Met Ball in New York City on Monday evening.

The Aussie supermodel balanced the punk theme of the night with a glamour quotient in her cut-out Michael Kors dress with sequined bandeau detail.

The gown fit her perfectly and I loved her fun diamond accessories that included a spiked silver Christian Louboutin clutch and diamond bangles.  Her hair was worn in a side-part, with braids on the other side and even if the hair was more old Hollywood, it still worked.

Miranda finished off her look with her signature radiant skin and dark, vampy blood red lips. I also loved her beautiful Tabitha Simmons heels.

Gisele Bundchen in Anthony Vaccarello - 2013 Met Ball

Gisele Bundchen wore a slinky Anthony Vaccarello dress to the 2013 Met Ball.

The amazonian beauty changed things up this year, by shunning a gown for this grommet hem dress by the model-favourite Parisian designer.

She kept her hair on a messy, rough side to go with the punk theme and finished off the look with sharp spiked black sandals.

Karolina Kurkova in Mary Katrantzou - 2013 Met Ball

Karolina Kurkova brought her fiercest self to the 2013 Met Ball in NYC.

She wore a one-shoulder, custom-print mini by Mary Katrantzou for the occasion but amped up on the punk accessories.

A slicked back hairstyle, seriously smoky eyes and fierce gold jewels, along with black ankle-strap heels finished her look.

Models at the 2013 Met Ball

Cara Delevingne wore Burberry of course.  Her custom-made black dress had full sleeves and a gold studded bodice.  The partially braided hair was a major trend.

Karlie Kloss wore a loose-fitting Louis Vuitton Fall 2013 dress with beautiful embellishments.  The red lips and hair are costume-ish but it is the place to look like that.

Kirsten Dunst in Louis Vuitton - 2013 Met Ball

Kirsten Dunst wore Louis Vuitton to the punk-themed Met Ball.

Her bottle green Fall 2013 gown featured a halter-neck, plunging neckline and a mega feathered skirt.

While it isn't punk at all, it sure is a risk, with the side-boob situation happening.  I liked Kirsten's make-up, which included that beautiful, warm lip shade.

Doutzen Kroes in Theyskens' Theory - 2013 Met Ball

Dutch super, Doutzen Kroes went all in for the tough chick look in her custom Theyskens' Theory gown.

The gown with a leather bodice and sheer skirt was worn by Doutzen with the right attitude, just look at that confident stance!

A slick bun, lots of eyeliner and fresh make-up completed her look.

Diane Kruger in Chanel - 2013 Met Ball

Met Ball maven and fashion icon, Diane Kruger attended the event wearing Chanel.

Diane fully took on the punk theme of the night and even if her black lace Chanel Spring 2013 Couture dress didn't scream 'punk!', she made up for it with her hair and make-up.

A rough, knotted (and dip-dyed) ponytail, smokey eyes and cool jewelry finished off her brilliant look.

Taylor Swift in J. Mendel - 2013 Met Ball

Taylor Swift brought along her new 'bad girl' (in terms of fashion) persona to the 2013 Met Ball that she attended with Gilles Mendel.

She attended the event wearing a black, figure-hugging J. Mendel dress with a fully embellished neckline and netted inserts.  Taylor completely sold us this punk-glam look with her dramatic cat eyes, black accessories and general attitude.

Kerry Washington in Vera Wang - 2013 Met Ball

Fashion maven Kerry Washington wore Vera Wang to the 2013 Met Ball.

Vera Wang and punk don't match at all, but the fishnet in the plunging neckline, and the use of elbow-length leather opera gloves sure reduced the sweetness of this purple floral print peplum gown.

Kate Bosworth in Balmain - 2013 Met Ball

Kate Bosworth isn't a gown girl and she lived up to that rep once again at the 2013 Met Gala.

She picked a rich, jewel pink Balmain Fall 2013 mini with intricate embellishments and a waist-cinching, thick gold belt.  Kate also tried something different in the make-up department by adding bold cat-eyes.

Tousled locks, glossy lips, Ferragamo shoes and a Balmain padded clutch completed her effortless look.

Rosie Huntington Whiteley in Gucci - 2013 Met Ball

The beautiful Rosie Huntington Whiteley opted for something other than Burberry, at the 2013 Costume Institute Gala.

She wore a black and gold Gucci Fall 2013 dress that had a fishnet bodice covered in colorful feather motifs and a chartreuse silk skirt that resembled liquid gold.

Rosie wore her hair back to show off her fine features and finished off her look with red lips and Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

Nina Dobrev in Monique Lhuillier - 2013 Met Ball

Nina Dobrev was a knockout like always, this time at her second ever Met Ball appearance.

The Bulgarian beauty outshone many of her peers in this crazy lace and leather jumpsuit with an organza over skirt by Monique Lhuillier.  It was different, in the best way possible and worked beautifull with the punk to couture theme of the night without looking costume-ish.

Deep side parted hair and black jewels completed her fantastic look.

Beyonce in Givenchy - 2013 Met Ball

Beyonce, for me, knocked it out of the ballpark at the 2013 Met Ball.

Her Givenchy dress with the glittering bodice and black and orange/yellow print skirt (with the matching boots) were overwhelming for sure.  But Beyonce worked it, as she only knows how.

Rooney Mara in Givenchy - 2013 Met Ball

This year's co-chair of the Met Ball, Rooney Mara wore a dress from Givenchy by Ricardo Tisci (who was also on the board).

She looked beautiful in the white, lace gown with zippers and a low-cut neckline.  I love how delicate the fabric is and how tough her make-up is, with the hairstyle and dark lip colour.

Givenchy and Rooney are the equivalent of Marion of Dior.

Solange Knowles in Kenzo - 2013 Met Ball

Urban cool/print queen Solange Knowles attended the 2013 Met Ball in... print.

It was a blue Kenzo dress for her with a structured bodice, skirt and a peeking panel.  I like Solange's red carpet approach: print, sleek sandal, bold accessory. Simple yet effective.

Gwyneth Paltrow in Valentino - 2013 Met Ball

Gwyneth Paltrow went back to the classic pink hue for the 2013 Met Gala.

The blonde icon wore a saccharine, almost fluro-pink Valentino ballgown with a very simple design.  Here she is, with the label's creative heads Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpalo Piccioli.

I'm in two minds about this - the colour is amazing for an event like this, but perhaps some jewelry would not have gone amiss.

Carey Mulligan in Balenciaga - 2013 Met Ball

Carey Mulligan, actress of the moment, wore Balenciaga to the 2013 Met Ball.

Her Fall 2013 dress is from the first collection by A. Wang for the label.  She looked polished and preened in the LBD with an oversized safety pin design.

Loving her super, super sleek hairstyle.

Sarah Jessica Parker in Giles - 2013 Met Ball

SJP is all about drama at the Met Ball.

This year, she wore a Giles Fall 2013 ballgown with a vivid print.  But she didn't stop at the print, for she also added a mohican style fascinator.

Let's be real, if anyone can carry this look off, it's SJP. No one else even comes close.

Blake Lively in Gucci - 2013 Met Ball

After missing last year's Met Ball, Blake Lively made a triumphant return to the red carpet in New York City.

The 'Gossip Girl' beauty wore a strapless, dove grey gown by Gucci Premiere with a feather train and motifs, accented with silver.  Heavily lashed eyes and nude lips, along with a bumped ponytail finished her look.

I adore her look, welcome back, queen of the red carpet Blake.

Amanda Seyfried in Givenchy - 2013 Met Ball

Amanda Seyfried, the new face of Givenchy 'Very Irresistable' perfume, walked the red carpet at the 2013 Met Ball wearing Givenchy couture.

Her Spring 2007 couture gown featured full sleeves, a bold print and a train.  Amanda's make-up was simply beautiful, with the cat-eyes and nude lips.
