'Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom' actress Naomie Harris attended the 2014 Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala last night.

As always, Naomie didn't take a single wrong step, this time in a lovely white Naeem Khan Spring 2014 collection gown.  Ideally, I would have liked to see the dress worn without the black waist-band, but it stops the look from being bridal.

A wavy hairstyle, David Morris jewelry, and a Rauwolf clutch finished her sweetly elegant look.

Sandra Bullock in Alex Perry - 2014 Palm Springs International Film Festival

Sandra Bullock brought some much needed colour to the ceremony at Palm Springs. The 'Gravity' actress received the Desert Palm Achievement Award for her work in the movie.

She wore a dress by famed Australian designer Alex Perry for the event.  I have always admired the combination of pink/orange or pink/red and this dress just bolstered that feeling.

The tangerine sleeves are so unexpected with the bubblegum pink hue of the rest of the dress and while I may not be a fan of the illusion neckline, it certainly is not a deal breaker.

Sleek hair, rosy make-up and shimmery rose-gold accessories finished her look.

Julia Roberts in Gucci - 2014 Palm Springs International Film Festival

Julia Roberts, who stars in the critically lauded feature, 'August: Osage County', attended the 2014 Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards gala last night.

She wore a modest Gucci dress with an animal print and a gold embellished hemline.  I like the three-quarter sleeves in this instance too (they've become a bit of a go-to for Julia recently) and the lace edges.

A side swept hairstyle, Roger Vivier clutch and black pumps by Gucci (could have easily been swapped for a more interesting pair) finished her look.

Amy Adams in Juan Carlos Obando - 2014 Palm Springs International Film Festival

Amy Adams fluttered onto the red carpet at this year's Palm Springs International Film Festival awards, held last night at the convention centre in Palm Springs.

The 'American Hustle' actress wore a lovely, halter-neck gown from the Juan Carlos Obando Spring 2014 collection.  The polka dots and monochromatic colour scheme give this dress a very light, flirty and feminine feeling which is actually a characteristic of this label.

Amy wore her hair in a sleek, low bun to show off the neckline and paired her dress with Cartier jewels and Casadei heels.

Lupita Nyong'o in Elie Saab - 2014 Palm Springs International Film Festival

Lupita Nyong'o hasn't been featured on this blog prior to this post, but if you read news and other media, it's pretty obvious that this young Kenyan actress has been strutting some serious style on the red carpet since her debut in '12 Years a Slave'.

So here she is at the Palm Springs International Film Festival awards, which sort of unofficially kick-off the awards season.  Lupita chose a heavily embellished peach cocktail dress by Elie Saab, with all the signature Saab details.

Her dress came with an equally, if not more stunning overcoat which she later removed. Her look was completed with simple diamond studs and matching sandals.

Matthew McConaughey & Camila Alves - 2014 Palm Springs International Film Festival

Matthew McConaughey and his gorgeous wife, Camila Alves attended the 2014 Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards in Palm Springs, CA last night.

He wore a flamboyant blazer with a faint metallic sheen by Saint Laurent with a bow-tie and the works. Love it.

She chose a more restrained, black gown by Mikael D. with a one-shoulder, lace detail and a leg split. A soft, pink lip colour and blushed cheeks finished up her beauty details.

Charlize Theron In Lanvin - 2012 Palm Springs International Film Festival

Charlize Theron opted for a simple LBD from the Lanvin Spring 2012 line for the 2012 Palm Springs Festival.

The sleek, structured dress with a split looks incredible on Charlize!  I love the details about this dress, like the padded shoulders, and the great fit.

Charlize wore it just right - with gold stone earrings, a metallic round clutch and my favourite, minimal strappy heels (also by Lanvin).

Angelina Jolie In Elie Saab - 2012 Palm Springs International Film Festival

Angelina Jolie wore an Elie Saab Spring 2011 jumpsuit to the Palm Springs International Film Festival.

The dove grey, pleated jumpsuit was nice, but pretty boring on Angie.  And she's done this silhouette of a baggy top and loose bottom a lot lately.

There's Brad Pitt too.  With a cane.

I really hope she changes things up for the major awards.

Michelle Williams attended the 2012 Palm Springs International Film Festival in a Prada dress.

The 'My Week with Marilyn' actress looked adorable in the champagne coloured frock that has a sequin, crystal and pearl encrusted bodice and a bell-shaped skirt.

 Michelle also debuted a new hair colour, and finished off her look with lots of eyeliner, berry lips and gold platform sandals by Prada.

It was a Monique Lhuillier Spring 2012 gown for Olivia Wilde, at this year's Palm Springs International Film Festival.

The scoop neck, sleeveless black gown has side cutouts with lace overlay and a lacy hem.  It's rather plain but then this is only the beginning of the awards season, we all know Olivia brings her A-game on the red carpet!

Olivia, who's sporting a fabulous new hair style looked elegant in the dress.  She carried a black clutch and wore two diamond bangles to finish off her look.

Shailene Woodley attended this year's Palm Springs International Film festival for the very first time.

The young actress, who is nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her movie, 'The Descendents' wore a Stella McCartney Spring 2012 dress for the event.

I'm glad she went very minimal with this look, opting for a side swept, glossy tresses & silver heels.

Jessica Chastain In Prabal Gurung - 2012 Palm Springs International Film Festival

Jessica Chastain wore a Prabal Gurung dress for the Palm Springs International Film Festival.

It's a case of half and half for me with her dress.  The deep forest green is great, the fabric has a subtle sheen but Jessica's styling is bringing the look down.

The hair is glossy but the deep fuchsia lipstick isn't all that great with the dress, and a clutch or a bracelet/cuff were needed.

Emily Blunt wore a Marios Schwab Spring 2012 dress for the 2012 Palm Springs International Film Festival screening of her upcoming movie, 'Salmon Fishing in the Yemen' in which she co-stars with Ewan McGregor.

Emily opted for the wonderful light pink dress with a lattice pattern throughout, and wore it with scarlet lips, a pewter clutch & heels.

The Social Network

The awards season has begun in full swing people, there's no escaping. Last night, a lot of my favourite actors were present at the Palm Springs Awards, sponsored by Cartier in Palm Springs, California. A lot of The Social Network stars were also present! (Love that movie.)
Natalie Portman, who received the Achievement Actress award & who's now fully sporting that pregnancy glow, wore a full-sleeved black and white dress with gold accents that covered her baby bump perfectly and tied her hair back into a chic bun. Carey Mulligan looked lovely in a metallic Prada dress with a full skirt and plain black YSL pumps. Amy Adams wore a teal coloured, one-shoulder cocktail dress with metallic heels too; I'm not liking the hairstyle one bit, it doesn't suit her and it's so dated!

*Update - Natalie Portman is wearing a Vionnet dress and Christian Dior heels.

Rashida Jones kept it simple in a printed blouse and black skirt, she wore black sandals and added colour through her red lipstick. Brenda Song wore a glitzy black mini with black Louboutins.
