2014 Golden Globes - Colour

Despite the black and white dresses outnumbering brightly coloured ones, these few stood out thanks to the vivid designs and shades. Some fared better than others...

Lupita Nyong'o was on everyone's (including mine) best dressed list after this red carpet and it's clear to see why.  The '12 Years a Slave' actress shut it down in this super elegant red Ralph Lauren gown with cape sleeves.  

Emmy Rossum in Carolina Herrera - Persol Magnificent Obsessions Event

Emmy Rossum looked gorgeous in a Carolina Herrera Resort 2014 gown when she attended the Persol Magnificent Obsessions Event honoring Julie Weiss and Jeannine Oppewall, in NYC.

Emmy always carries off Herrera gowns extremely well - remember this?

In this instance, the retro style updo and bold eye make-up did the trick with this blue and red gown with a floral skirt.

Ziyi Zhang in Carolina Herrera - 2013 Cannes Day 2 & 'The Bling Ring' Premiere

Ziyi Zhang also attended the premiere of 'The Bling Ring' in Cannes tonight.

She looked regal in a strapless ballgown from the Carolina Herrera Fall 2012 collection; this  is my favourite look from the actress thus far.

I loved the hairstyle, minimal make-up and the opulent Chanel necklace.

Emily Blunt in Carolina Herrera - 2013 Met Ball

Emily Blunt wore Carolina Herrera to the 2013 Met Ball, which she attended with John Krasinski.

I really want to like Emily's punk glam look but I cannot.  The fluro pink eyeshadow feels childish and the hairstyle silly, especially when you take into account her rather conservative looking dress.  Emily's had an amazing awards season this year so this is just a little blip hopefully.

Minka Kelly in Carolina Herrera - 2013 Met Ball

Minka Kelly attended the 2013 Met Ball in a Carolina Herrera Fall 2013 dress.

Her dark purple dress had a high neck, colourfully embellished shoulders and a waist-cinching belt, along with full sleeves and lace overlay.

It is a lot visually, but I think that Minka carries it off superbly, with a messy braided updo and a bold wine lip colour.  The punk element has gone glam here.

Renee Zellweger in Carolina Herrera - 2013 Oscars

Renee Zellweger attended the Oscars on Sunday, and in doing so, made her first formal appearance in a long, long time.

She wore her red carpet go-to, Carolina Herrera to the event.  I loved the liquid, light gold gown that fit her very well, and included an interesting back featuring red bows. 

But her look was brought down several notches because of the almost non-existing hairstyle and make-up, some effort into them would have made this look a complete winner.

2013 Golden Globes - Blue/Purple

Another strong colour of the night was blue in all its shades.

The Best Actress in a Motion Picture (Drama) award winner Jessica Chastain opted for a baby blue coloured dress.  The custom-made Calvin Klein Collection dress had me at the colour but would have looked sleeker if the plunging neckline wasn't so loose-fitting.  

All that side, Jessica looked gorgeous neck up.  The pinned back red hair, berry-stained lips and those Harry Winston earrings gave her a classic, old Hollywood aura.

2013 Art of Elysium Heaven Gala

The annual Art of Elysium Heaven Gala took place in Los Angeles on Saturday night.

Camilla Belle was literally the belle of the ball in one of favourite dresses from the Carolina Herrera Pre-Fall 2013 collection (see my Pinterest here); the hair, the off-shoulder detail, jewels, it was perfection.

Rachel Bilson took me by surprise in a fun, hot pink, animal-print gown from the Valentino Resort 2013 collection. She really didn't need much to make this look pop so straight hair and minimum make-up were enough.

Anna Kendrick also looked colourful in an emerald green, silk cocktail dress by Christian Dior.  I loved her hairstyle but the black pumps felt so stodgy.  

Amber Heard was elegant in a white Valentino Spring 2013 dress with black flowers and full sleeves.  

Julianne Hough was pretty in a braided updo, bright lips and a Jenny Packham gown.

Krysten Ritter wore a light blue dress from the Alberta Ferretti Spring 2013 gown which, to be honest, washed her out.

Kirsten Dunst wore a Louis Vuitton Spring 2013 dress. I thought the checkered gown looked pretty good on her but looked uncomfortable.

Jaime King posed for the cameras in a bright red, full sleeved red gown.

Emmy Rossum in Carolina Herrera - 2013 Critics' Choice Movie Awards

Emmy Rossum stole the show for me at this year's Critics' Choice Movie Awards.

The 'Shameless' actress wore the dark blue, constellation print gown from the Carolina Herrera Pre-Fall 2013 collection with star details at the neckline and waist (if you follow me on Pinterest, you would have seen this dress on my Pre-Fall board).

Emmy did full justice to the dress with glossy, wavy hair, dewy make-up and a neutral, glossy lip colour.

Olivia Munn in Carolina Herrera - 2013 People's Choice Awards

Carolina Herrera was the label of choice for Olivia Munn at the 2013 People's Choice Awards.

The awesome actress wore the black and white separates which consisted of the sleeveless top and a fitted skirt with a flirty hem.  As much as I loved the addition of the dark red lip colour, her hair would have looked better in an updo.  

Also, a more exciting pair of shoes would have elevated this look.

Katie Holmes in Carolina Herrera - 2012 Style Awards

Katie Holmes made an appearance at the 2012 Style Awards in New York City.

The Holmes & Yang designer presented the Designer of the Year award to the legendary Carolina Herrera.  Katie wore a crisp black shirt and a flared gold skirt with black embellishments by none other than Carolina Herrera.

It was a nice, simple look from the actress/designer, who completed the look with snakeskin pumps and a sleek ponytail.

Olivia Munn in Carolina Herrera - 'The Babymakers' Premiere

Olivia Munn showed off her tan in a white dress at the screening of her movie called 'The Babymakers' in LA.

She was glowing in a printed Carolina Herrera dress with a rounded neckline and a long hemline.  It looked elegant and sophisticated - signature Herrera.

Olivia wore her hair up in a bun and finished her look with a Judith Leiber clutch and pink sandals.

Dianna Agron in Carolina Herrera - 2012 Met Ball

Dianna Agron wore Carolina Herrera of course.

She was swathed in a beautiful, forest green silk-chiffon gown with a plunging neckline and a tiered skirt, finished with a brighter belt.

Her hair, sultry make-up and the Judith Leiber clutch were absolutely perfect.

Julianne Hough in Carolina Herrera - 2012 Met Ball

Julianne Hough attended the Met Gala with boyfriend Ryan Seacrest last night.

The dancer/actress wore a fuschia Carolina Herrera gown which was fitted until it hit the knee, at which point it flared out in a skirt.

The colour is gorgeous on her, and for once her hair and make-up are very natural.  My only gripe is that black lining at her bust, the dress would have looked better without it.

Olivia Munn in Jason Wu - Mercedes-Benz Transmission LA: AV CLUB Party

Olivia Munn attended the Mercedes-Benz Transmission LA AV CLUB Party in LA on Thursday looking fabulous.

She wore a gorgeous orange silk Jason Wu Pre-Fall 2012 dress that featured cut-outs near the neck and a handkerchief hem.  Olivia belted the look, as worn by the model which was a good choice.

 She wore her hair in a laid-back top-knot, and I loved her natural, glowing make-up. 

She also carried a clutch by Carolina Herrera and wore nude pointy pumps by Christian Louboutin which seemed a size too big.  Some gold/black sandals would have been a better choice.

Emily Blunt in Carolina Herrera - 'Salmon Fishing in the Yemen' London Premiere

Emily Blunt walked the red carpet in London for the premiere of her new movie 'Salmon Fishing in the Yemen'.

I was surprised to see her wearing a Carolina Herrera Fall 2012 dress seeing as she's British and in her home country.

  

 Nevertheless, she carried this layered striped and sparkly dress well even if the styling is a little on the dull side.

Olivia Wilde sparkled at the Jameson Empire Awards in London tonight.

The actress wore a glimmering, silver chiffon Carolina Herrera Spring 2012 gown with full sleeves and sequins.

She kept her look fresh by wearing minimal make-up and wore her hair in a bun.

Dianna Agron In Carolina Herrera - Elton John's Oscar Viewing Party

Dianna Agron attended Elton John's annual Oscar viewing party.

She wore a dress from the by her go-to label: Carolina Herrera.  The Resort 2012 dress is fresh, flirty and suits Dianna perfectly.

 Her hair and dewy make-up were perfection and I think she looks better than the model in this dress.  Chandelier earrings and a silver Jimmy Choo clutch provided the finishing touches.

Tina Fey In Carolina Herrera - 2012 Oscars

Tina Fey attended the Oscars in a custom Carolina Herrera gown with a peplum and black waist-belt.

The colour is amazing on Tina, especially with her dark eyes and hair.  I was also suprised to see that high bun on her as Tina hasn't done that hairstyle on the red carpet before.But it works, and Tina looked so glamorous.

Accessories included beautiful earrings by Bulgari and a Roger Vivier clutch.

Jessica Alba In Carolina Herrera - V-Day Cocktails & Conversation Event

Jessica Alba wore a Carolina Herrera cocktail dress to a charity benefit in Hollywood on Tuesday.

The persimmon dutch satin dress works wonders on Jessica's skintone & brown hair.  My only complain is that it's a little too snug around her waist and the satin is creased because of that.

A golden box clutch & black and white peep-toes completed her look.  I'm hoping that Jess is attending the Oscars this weekend, she always lands in my best-dressed list!
