Heidi Klum in Alexandre Vauthier - 2012 American Music Awards

Heidi Klum, a staple at music awards shows these days, attended the 2012 American Music Awards last weekend.

The supermodel wore a head-to-toe gold look which included an Alexandre Vauthier mini dress with Christian Louboutin for Alexandre Vauthier heels.

The hair was too severe but overall, this was a bearable look.  Not sure what's happened to Heidi's style, she's hardly consistent.

For the 2012 American Music Awards, Kerry Washington wore a bright Stella McCartney Resort 2013 dress.

I love the bright, canary yellow shade on her and her cute pin-up hairstyle. Her look was completed with coral Christian Louboutin pumps and a lemon-yellow Kotur clutch.

Jennifer Morrison attended the 2012 AMAs on Sunday night.

She did so wearing a black gown by Abed Mahfouz that had an embellished neckline and cape-like sleeves.

I know she's not a major pop-star or anything but she could have worn something fun, this black dress is too serious and sombre.

Hayden Panettiere was one of my favourites at the 2012 AMAs.

The 'Nashville' star dazzled in a simple, sparkling dress by Giorgio Armani.

Unlike her usual red carpet style, Hayden wore her hair up in a sleek style but what impressed me most was her flawless make-up; that pink lip is to die for.

Gwen Stefani in Balmain - 2012 American Music Awards

Gwen Stefani attended the 2012 AMAs with the rest of the No Doubt members.

The singer looked amazing in an embellished, low cut blazer and leather pants from the Balmain Fall 2012 collection.  Balmain's always a favourite with me and Gwen did full justice to this ensemble.

Wavy hair, red lips and black pumps finished her look perfectly.

Nicki Minaj in Monique Lhuillier - 2012 American Music Awards

Nicki Minaj wore neon to the 2012 American Music Awards.

The singer picked up two awards: Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist and Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album so she had a good night.

The dress she wore was from the Monique Lhuillier Resort 2013 collection, which is full of neons and bright hues.  I think she worked this gown, teaming it with big hair, pink lips and a statement necklace.

Christina Aguilera showed off a new hairstyle at the 2012 AMAs.

The singer wore a halter neck dress by Pamella Roland.

The various shades of purple are lovely but overall her look felt dated and overworked.

Taylor Swift wore a strapless golden gown with sequins from the Reem Acra Spring 2012 collection for the 2011 American Music Awards, held in LA.

The sparkly gown is trademark Taylor but she opted for straight hair on this ocassion, and I love the emerald earrings with the gold dress.

Selena Gomez wore a silver Giorgio Armani gown for the AMAs this year.

The old-Hollywood style slinky silk gown with a low neck, drop-waist, side tassles and leg split looked fabulous on Selena.

She wore it with loose waves, silver earrings, glossy pink lips, a minaudiere & silver Jimmy Choos.

I like how Selena wears it without looking like she's trying too hard to look grown-up.

Jennifer Lopez wore a dress by one of her favourites: Zuhair Murad.

The Fall 2011 dress had a one sleeve, a side leg split and intricate black embroidery over nude silk fabric.

Jennifer wore it with her go-to hairstyle: the top knot; diamond earrings, light pink lips and peeptoes completed her look.

The metallic, sleeveless dress with a laser-cut design didn't suit Heidi much - I much prefer her in flowy gowns & soft dresses.

Wavy hair, smokey eyes & snakeskin slingbacks by Nicholas Kirkwood completed her look.

Jennifer Hudson wore a Jenny Packham Fall 2011 mini for the AMAs.

The metallic, draped dress was a nice change from her uniform of figure-hugging dresses.

I liked everything about this look until I saw her feet - those sparkly, chunky Louboutins are totally ruining the effect of the dress.

Straight locks & bright pink lips were the finishing touches.

The plunge-neck dress with a centre split was a little too flashy in my opinion - either the leg or the cleavage, never both!
