2014 Golden Globes - Colour

Despite the black and white dresses outnumbering brightly coloured ones, these few stood out thanks to the vivid designs and shades. Some fared better than others...

Lupita Nyong'o was on everyone's (including mine) best dressed list after this red carpet and it's clear to see why.  The '12 Years a Slave' actress shut it down in this super elegant red Ralph Lauren gown with cape sleeves.  

Taylor Swift in Elie Saab - 2013 CMT Music Awards

Taylor Swift chose to wear Elie Saab to this year's CMT Music Awards.

The Saab loyalist chose an ivory dress with an asymmetrical hem and embellishments, from the Spring 2013 collection.

A simple updo reminded us that the old, uber girly Taylor is still there, while those Jimmy Choo open toe boots signaled a new, adventurous phase in her style.

Taylor Swift in J. Mendel - 2013 Met Ball

Taylor Swift brought along her new 'bad girl' (in terms of fashion) persona to the 2013 Met Ball that she attended with Gilles Mendel.

She attended the event wearing a black, figure-hugging J. Mendel dress with a fully embellished neckline and netted inserts.  Taylor completely sold us this punk-glam look with her dramatic cat eyes, black accessories and general attitude.

Taylor Swift in Elie Saab - 2013 NRJ Music Awards

Continuing her run of short, shimmery mini dresses, Taylor Swift attended the NRJ Music Awards in France yesterday in an Elie Saab Spring 2013 dress.

It was somewhat a predictable look from the singer but there's no doubt that she looked great.  I would have liked to see something unpredictable however, maybe a pink lip?

Her look was finished off with straight hair, bold eyes and gold Jimmy Choos.

Taylor Swift in Kaufmanfranco - 40 Principales Music Awards

Taylor Swift attended the 40 Principales Music Awards in Madrid, Spain.

She wore a shimmering mini by Kaufmanfranco with a plunging neckline an three-quarter sleeves.

Taylor's changing her red-carpet style from super-sweet and girly to a more grown up, polished one.  On this occasion, she wore her hair in waves and finished off the look with Christian Louboutin 'Dufoura' strappy heels.

2013 Golden Globes - Maroon

Deep red was a constant on the red carpet at this year's Golden Globe Awards.  Whether it was on a dress or on lips, this colour was seemingly everywhere.

Miranda Kerr attended the Globes with her handsome husband Orlando Bloom.  While the two didn't pose on the red carpet, they did attend the ceremony and later posed at the InStyle post Golden Globes party.

Miranda was a siren in a plunging Zuhair Murad Fall 2012 dress with a gathering of fabric near the hip and a leg split.  The rich, wine colour was divine as was her hair and dark make-up.  She wore statement earrings by H. Stern and carried a clutch and wore shoes, all by Ferragamo.

Taylor Swift in Ralph Lauren - 2013 People's Choice Awards

For this year's People's Choice Awards, Taylor Swift chose a simple floor-length gown.

The white Ralph Lauren dress was pure perfection, and made her look elegant and statuesque.

As a further reminder that she's past her sequins and sparkles phase, Taylor opted for a dark eye make-up and an edgy updo.  And those earrings I can't help but love.

Taylor Swift in J. Mendel - 2012 MTV Video Music Awards

Taylor Swift attended the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards in LA looking sharp.

The singer skipped her beloved sparkly, pretty dress for this white pant suit by J. Mendel. Frankly, my jaw dropped when I saw Taylor wearing this, mainly because it was so out of the blue.  But she rocked it.  

The straight hair, red lips and sandals signal a strong shift in her style, I'm hoping this continues.

Taylor Swift in Vintage - MTV Studios Visit

Taylor Swift made her way into the MTV Studios in NYC where she filmed a live segment on her latest single 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together'.

She wore head to toe red which included a vintage white dress with red applique and red Prada heels.

Taylor is in a 'red phase', so to speak of, so she concluded her look with straight hair and ruby red lips.

Taylor Swift in Maria Lucia Hohan - 2012 Teen Choice Awards

Taylor Swift attended the Teen Choice Awards in California on Sunday.

The singer wore a soft white, draped dress by Maria Lucia Hohan.  It didn't have a single sequin but was very Taylor nonetheless.

She wore it with coral earrings by Lorraine Schwartz and as lovely as they are, I would have loved to see another pop of colour with her white dress.  She wore Prada heels and carried an Edie Parker clutch.

Taylor Swift in Elie Saab - 2012 Billboard Music Awards

Taylor Swift was the highlight at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards.

She wore a gown from the Elie Saab Pre-Fall 2012 collection.  The red gown had a lace bodice and a soft, flowing chiffon skirt.

Taylor sported straight hair, as she has for the past few months now and beared an uncanny resemblance to the model.  I love that Taylor has been walking away from sequins and sparkle, but I hope she hasn't completely lost her love for them.

Taylor Swift in J. Mendel - 2012 Academy of Country Music Awards

Taylor Swift was just stunning at this year's Academy of Country Music Awards.

She wore a J. Mendel Fall 2012 gown that was white with gold lame detail and subtle cutouts at the waist.

She really changed it up in the hair & make-up department which impressed me most.  This is definitely her best look of 2012!

Taylor Swift in Maria Lucia Hohan - 2012 Kids' Choice

Taylor Swift brought her wholesome appeal to the Kids' Choice Awards.

She wore a white dress by Maria Lucia Hohan for the event.  I'm glad this isn't a full-length gown but it is quite dull all the same.

She wore her hair in an updo with wispy tendrils to frame her face and completed her look with pink lipstick and gold heels.

Taylor Swift In Honor - 'Dr. Seuss' The Lorax' Premiere

Taylor Swift attended the LA premiere of the animated movie 'Dr. Seuss' The Lorax' in which she has voiced a character, along with Zac Efron.

The singer wore a cute Honor Spring 2012 dress. It looks as though the dress has a Peter-Pan collar but on closer inspection, one can notice the clever sheer panels.

 The silhouette of the dress is very Taylor, and the hairstyle is suited to it but the pale colour washes her out.  I wish she'd chosen a colourful dress from the very same collection.

Taylor Swift wore a Zuhair Murad gown to this year's Grammys.

I love this beaded, embellished golden dress with cap sleeves and a fishtail hem - so dramatic yet demure.

Taylor went for a very different hairstyle: the ballerina bun is very pretty and the amber earrings & lip colour are perfect!

Taylor Swift wore yet another princess-style gown, this one by Reem Acra, at the Nashville Symphony Ball - an updo completed her look.

Sofia Vergara announced the Screen Actors Guild Awards wearing a fresh, halter-neck dress by David Meister.  She wore it with turquoise earrings & nude Casadei pumps.

Leelee Sobeiski attended the NYC premiere of 'Iron Lady' in a navy dress with a fluted skirt by Alaia; I love the micro-scalloped hemline.  Leelee wore it with tights and black boots, I think some statement accessory was desperately needed here - maybe a bracelet or a clutch?

Chanel Iman hosted a party in NYC, wearing a cute Valentino mini.  The dress had a sheer, polka-dot top that had a pearl-encrusted collar which was contrasted with a leather skirt.

Kate Mara attended the NYC premiere of sister Rooney's movie, 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' in a pink Christian Dior dress.  It was flirty, feminine and suited Kate.

Whitney Port attended an event by Very.com in a cute winter outfit: a knit-sweater, worn with tweed pants and this all was made festive via sparkles.

Taylor Swift In Oscar de la Renta - Billboard's Women In Music Awards

Taylor Swift was back in red, at Billboard's Women In Music Awards where she was given the Woman Of The Year Award.

Taylor wore an Oscar de la Renta Spring 2012 dress for the occasion - I love this plunge-neck organza dress, the colour is just gorgeous.

Nude Prada heels would not have been my first choice for this dress, I much prefer the tan sandals from the runway.

But Taylor did change up her hair, this straightened style with bangs is adorable on her.

Taylor Swift In Porcelain - CMT Artists Of The Year Show

Taylor Swift wore a red Porcelain dress for the CMT Artists of the Year show, held in Nashville, Tennessee.

The strapless frock with a corset bodice and a flared skirt sits comfortably in Taylor's style aesthetic.

A soft updo, lashings of mascara, red lips, floral earrings (Lorraine Schwartz) and silver peeptoes (Louboutin) were her finishing touches.

Taylor Swift was spotted browsing shops in NYC yesterday, in a casual outfit.

Taylor wore a navy coloured, cable-knit by Ralph Lauren, tucked into a pleated yellow skirt.

Her colourful outfit was finished off with a ponytail, ruby-red lips, a turquoise satchel & red court shoes.

Taylor Swift wore a strapless golden gown with sequins from the Reem Acra Spring 2012 collection for the 2011 American Music Awards, held in LA.

The sparkly gown is trademark Taylor but she opted for straight hair on this ocassion, and I love the emerald earrings with the gold dress.
