2014 Golden Globes - Colour

Despite the black and white dresses outnumbering brightly coloured ones, these few stood out thanks to the vivid designs and shades. Some fared better than others...

Lupita Nyong'o was on everyone's (including mine) best dressed list after this red carpet and it's clear to see why.  The '12 Years a Slave' actress shut it down in this super elegant red Ralph Lauren gown with cape sleeves.

Emma Watson in Chanel - 'The Bling Ring' LA Premiere

After a great look at the 'This is the End' premiere, Emma Watson once more scored high fashion points at the LA held premiere of her movie 'The Bling Ring'.

She wore a grey dress from the Chanel Fall 2013 collection with a raised collar, pockets and tiers on the skirt.  There's something moody but light about this look - the dark lips and grey hue of the dress should actually make it seem winter appropriate but it works just fine in June.

An updo, a dark lip colour and Giuseppe Zanotti heels completed her lovely look.

Emma Watson in Roland Mouret - 'This is the End' LA Premiere

Emma Watson attended the premiere of this summer's big comedy, 'This is the End' in California this week.

She looked incredibly classy and elegant as always in a Roland Mouret Fall 2013 collection look, featuring a printed, structured top and tapered pants.

The entire look - including the retro, faux-bob hairstyle, the earrings, dusky lip colour and black pumps - works.

Emma Watson in Chanel - 2013 Cannes Film Festival Day 2 & 'The Bling Ring' Premiere

Emma Watson took to the red carpet for the screening of her latest movie 'The Bling Ring' tonight.

She was simply elegant in a Chanel Spring 2013 Couture gown with a black glittering black bodice and a fitted white skirt.  Emma's style quotient is evolving, gone are the days when she used to prefer intricate, ornate frocks.  These days, she's serving up a more edgy style, just look at the ear cuffs!

Emma Watson in Christopher Kane - 'The Bling Ring' Cannes Photocall

Emma Watson posed for the photocall of the much anticipated, Sofia Coppola directed movie 'The Bling Ring' in Cannes.

The British actress wore a maroon Christopher Kane look with feather accented separates.  I like that it is youthful but still tasteful for Cannes.  She added black pumps though - a contrasting bright shade would have done wonders for the look.

Emma Watson in Prabal Gurung - 2013 Met Ball

Emma Watson also tapped into her 'bad girl' side, displaying a lot of flesh at this year's Met Ball.

She wore a black Prabal Gurung Fall 2013 dress with multiple cut-outs.  It was a very simple look for Emma, consisting of just one spike earring and her heels. The make-up was fresh too, with emphasis on the eyebrows.

Emma Watson in Peter Pilotto - 2013 People's Choice Awards

Emma Watson attended the 2013 PCAs looking lovely.

The British actress wore a dress from the Peter Pilotto Spring 2013 collection, full of the signature bold colours.

While I do prefer the longer version on the runway, Emma's version is youthful and fun.  A pink lip colour and black edgy sandals completed the look.

Emma Watson in Giorgio Armani - 'The Perks Of Being A Wallflower' LA Premiere

Emma Watson attended the premiere of  'The Perks Of Being A Wallflower' in LA.

The British actress wore a soft, pale heather coloured dress by Giorgio Armani.  As much I get the look she was gunning for - soft, dreamy, feminine - it just didn't work.

That colour totally washed Emma out and she just didn't stand out, which is coincidental considering the name of the movie.

I did like her hair and red lips but that dress didn't do her any favours.

Emma Watson in Erdem - 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' Premiere at 2012 TIFF

Emma Watson attended the premiere of her latest movie 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' in Toronto, during the film festival.

Emma very strategically chose a dress from the Erdem Resort 2013 collection.  I say strategic because Erdem Moralioglu is a Canadian-born British designer.

The white dress had lace featured shoulders and a blue and black floral design.  I like how it looks on Emma but wasn't a fan of the styling.

The dark lip trend is nice but I wish she'd worn a pink/coral colour as summer hasn't quite finished yet.  The black pumps also looked uninspired but I liked that they were pointy.

Emma Watson in Peter Pilotto - 2012 MTV Video Music Awards

Emma Watson brightened up the red carpet at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards.  The actress, who we will next see in 'Perks of Being a Wallflower' attended the event with her co-star Ezra Miller.

Emma went for colour in this Peter Pilotto Resort 2013 dress which had a colour blocked bodice and a fun, printed short skirt.

She looked graceful as always and wore her hair in a braided style.  Tom Ford sandals provided the finishing touch.

Emma Watson in Brood - 2012 MTV Movie Awards

Emma Watson looked wonderful at this year's MTV Movie Awards.

The actress donned a Brood Fall 2012 dress which featured a graphic print throughout, with black lining and a peplum.

Emma is in that awkward hair stage where she's growing it so it was simply swept back and she completed her look with spiked cuffs and strappy Tabita Simmons sandals.  I never thought of Emma as a sandal girl but this dress needed them.

Peplums have been popular at this event (see here and here) and as far as the MTV Movie Awards go, this look was perfect for them.

Emma Watson in Miu Miu - 'Struck By Lightening' Premiere

Emma Watson was in NYC for the Tribeca Film Festival of the movie 'Struck By Lightening'.

She looked cute in separates by Miu Miu.  The white, printed button down was paired with a sky-blue printed short, A-line skirt by Emma and exemplifies a perfect way of mixing prints this season.

She added a touch of edge via the black, leather topper, carried a pink Miu Miu clutch and wore simple peep-toes.  Slicked back hair and red lips gave contrast to the pastel clothes.

Emma Watson In Valentino - Pre-BAFTA Party

Emma Watson wore a Valentino Pre-Fall 2012 dress for the pre-BAFTA party; the awards take place on Sunday night.

Emma was sassy yet sweet in this dress with a lace bodice & poofy skirt. The colour is bold and Emma took it to the next level with her glossy hair & red lips.

She finished the look with strappy Louboutins; I cannot wait to see what she wears on Sunday night.

The Best-Dressed of 2011

2011 has gone quicker than I thought it would and it's time to draw up my second annual 'Best-dressed' list! Happy holidays to one and all! xo

 10. Australian beauty Miranda Kerr takes the tenth spot in this list.

I know she's a supermodel and has the ability to wear anything and still look fantastic, however, I'm more a fan of her street style; her casual day looks range from basic neutrals to floral maxis and she looks effortlessly chic in everything (while carrying her baby in tow sometimes).
Oh, and she's pretty stunning in formal togs too.

9. Jessica Alba gave us all a master class in maternity style this year.

Maxi dresses are a fail-safe choice for any mother-to-be but Jess made sure to keep every look interesting by way of the dress, accessories, and hair.
My personal favourites are the floral, off-shoulder Dolce & Gabbana dress & teal coloured, swallow-print Issa maxi.

8. Leighton Meester is without a doubt, the shoe queen of the red carpet.

In 2011 she wowed me in all her ensembles and from the girly Vera Wang dress to the edgy Michael Kors gown, Leighton always kept things fun and fashionable.
And you'll (almost) never catch this girl in a pair of boring black pumps.

7.  Emma Watson takes spot number 7, for her enchanting, feminine sense of style.

Not one to be seen in skin-tight or short dresses, Emma sticks to her girly silhouettes and designs.  She went for that famous pixie hairstyle earlier this year and this only added to her charm.
Personal favourites are the Oscar de la Renta gown & the Jason Wu ensemble.

6. Sarah Jessica Parker made many red carpet appearances in 2011, largely because she starred in a movie ('I Don't Know How She Does It').

Her summer wardrobe also included a lot of clothes by one of my favourite designers - Prabal Gurung and she single-handedly revived the white pump trend.
SJP may overdo the crazy accessories at times, but you can't accuse her of looking boring.

5. I honestly don't know how I forgot to put Freida Pinto in my best-dressed last year because ever since the Indian actress starred in 'Slumdog Millionaire', she has been giving us stellar looks.

This year, Freida starred in a lot of movies, which was great for us as we saw a variety of fantastic looks from her.  Personal favourites are the Ralph Lauren jumpsuit & the Antonio Berardi dress.

4. Olivia Palermo is the only true blue fashionista on this list as she's not an actress.

The NYC based socialite and designer is known for her superb accessorising skills and the ability to put together stylish outfits from quirky separates.  Her signature items include her Stuart Weitzman sandals and a fringed clutch.

 3. Diane Kruger has been the most consistent this year.

The German actress kept firm hold of her fashion icon status by wearing her favourites like Chanel and Jason Wu but also ventured out in a high-fashion, neon Alessandra Rich gown (a favourite of mine).

2. Zoe Saldana takes the second spot on this list.  It's not hard to see why as Zoe has a really fun, playful view of fashion.

She's always ahead of the pack, wearing pieces fresh off the runway and I have to say, she's one of those rare ladies in Hollywood who can carry off an ankle-strap without making her legs look stumpy.

  1. Leading the charge is Emma Stone.  This really shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

The girl starred in three big movies ('Friends with Benefits', 'Crazy, Stupid, Love.' & 'The Help') and wore designs from virtually every label in the world.
I love how Emma always looks confident & comfortable in whatever she's wearing - she wears the dress, not the other way around.

Emma Watson In Elie Saab - Lancome Hong Kong Event

Emma Watson wore an Elie Saab Fall Couture 2011 frock to a Lancome event in Hong Kong.
The portrait-neck, midnight blue tulle frock with an embellished bodice and low back looked beautiful on her.

Slicked, side parted hair, red lips and silver heels (no pumps!) completed her evening look.

Emma Watson In Jason Wu - 'My Week With Marilyn' Premiere

Emma Watson wore a Jason Wu Spring 2012 ensemble, for the London premiere of the movie 'My Week With Marilyn'.

The snowy-white top with bubble sleeves, embellishments and a peplum shape is absolutely divine.  Emma paired it with a black skirt and ankle-strap heels by Jimmy Choo.

Side-parted hair, black earrings & an animal-print box clutch (Charlotte Olympia) were the finishing touches to her elegant look.

(That's Eddie Redmayne with her, looking sharp in a navy suit).

Potter in New York

Potter has landed in NYC.

I had to include this top picture of Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson and while Daniel looks like a little kid in a candy shop, it was nice to see a final red carpet shot from the trio.

Emma Watson brought surprise to the premiere, by wearing this Bottega Veneta gown.

At first glance, I wasn't quite impressed but the more that I look at it, the more I'm growing to like it. The linen bodice and amber coloured satin skirt combine to create quite an outrageous, yet gorgeous dress!

The slick back hair is okay, but I wish she'd not gone so raccoon-eye with her make up.

Sarah Jessica Parker kept it subtle in this watercolour-print Oscar de la Renta dress, topping it with a fail-safe black blazer.

Newly-married America Ferrera was also there, wearing a tassled dress with interesting heels.

Emma also did a talk show appearance, in a glittering Balmain mini. Again, this was unexpected from her (I would normally expect Kristen Stewart in this) but I like that she went all edgy in NYC!

More Potter Style

It'd be very rude of me to pass on the other stars' style at the "Harry Potter" premiere so here goes.

Bonnie Wright glowed in a blush pink Miu Miu top & silk satin skirt. She looks so pretty, I'm going to overlook the inevitabley crinkled skirt.

Clemence Poesy had her ballerina moment in a flouncy white Nina Ricci white dress which she wore with black peeptoes; so elegant!

J. K. Rowling's floral Oscar de la Renta gown was the picture of elegant English summer style.

Helena Bonham Carter brought kook with her bottle-green silk gown and the floral blossoms perched on her, quite precociously actually. There's no denying it, the lady has individuality.

Emma Roberts attended the after party, wearing a a ruched MaxMara dress with Sergio Rossi peeptoes - she looks great, and I actually prefer her look over Emma Watson's Elie Saab dress.

The Magic Begins

Excuse the cheesy title.

Emma Watson really played dress up last night, at the Trafalgar Square premiere of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part Two".

On the red carpet, she wore a striking, tulle and organza Oscar de la Renta ballgown; she looked fabulous!

At an after-party, Emma changed into a pale, embellished Elie Saab frock, worn with satin Giuseppe Zanotti peeptoes. It resonates with her red-carpet look and is very pretty, but I wish she'd worn something different. The princess-inspired looks got a little boring.

Harry Potter Tour Kickstart

Being a massive "Harry Potter" fan/geek, I was super excited to see the official promo tour for the last movie in the franchise kick off in London with Emma Watson heading the pack.

Her Rafael Lopez LBD was reminiscent of the dress she wore for the premiere of the last movie, see here and it's not surprising since that dress was by Rafael Lopez too. I really want to like this dress but the overly frilly style is putting me off; (although Emma still looks cute).

I had to put in a picture of the two main guys there too, namely, Rupert Grint & Tom Felton (who looks mighty fine may I add) but couldn't help but miss the Potter boy himself!
