Despite the black and white dresses outnumbering brightly coloured ones, these few stood out thanks to the vivid designs and shades. Some fared better than others...
Lupita Nyong'o was on everyone's (including mine) best dressed list after this red carpet and it's clear to see why. The '12 Years a Slave' actress shut it down in this super elegant red Ralph Lauren gown with cape sleeves.
Taylor Swift was elegance personified in her beautiful pink Carolina Herrera gown. She pulled off the tricky shape with aplomb and finished her look with a retro hairstyle, bold eyelashes and pink lips.
Emma Watson wore Dior, quite unexpectedly. The young actress was the second Dior-clad lady on the red carpet, in her unusual couture design which consisted of a tomato red dress-top and black pants, all worn with eye catching blue heels. It was all a little confusing but the more I looked at it, the more it grew on me.
Drew Barrymore was the third pregnant actress on the red carpet this year. She looked absolutely lovely in this Monique Lhuillier Spring 2014 creation; the pink and orange appliques look so charming on the unique dress. Drew completed her look with sleek hair, pink lips and red peep-toe pumps.
Sandra Bullock didn't take home any awards but looked terrific doing that. She wore a colourful Prabal Gurung Pre-Fall 2014 gown with a high-low hemline. The colours work well together and my favourite part about her look was the sleek, youthful ponytail and berry lips.
Reese Witherspoon looked great, as always, in a custom Calvin Klein dress in the most refreshing shade of blue. The sporty feel of the dress went perfectly with Reese's razor cut, asymmetrical bob and sparkling earrings. She sported minimal make-up, a major trend at the Globes this year.
Kaley Cuoco. She totally missed all marks at the Golden Globes this year in this dull, washed out and dated Rani Zakhem design. Not only are the colours not doing the pretty actress any favours, she has done the princess style ballgown dress to death now. A new stylist is necessary immediately.
Lena Dunham didn't disappoint this year. The 'Girls' actress wore a bright, canary yellow Zac Posen gown with utmost confidence and it payed off.
