2014 Golden Globes - Colour

Despite the black and white dresses outnumbering brightly coloured ones, these few stood out thanks to the vivid designs and shades. Some fared better than others...

Lupita Nyong'o was on everyone's (including mine) best dressed list after this red carpet and it's clear to see why.  The '12 Years a Slave' actress shut it down in this super elegant red Ralph Lauren gown with cape sleeves.  

2014 Golden Globes - Green

Green wasn't everywhere on the red carpet this year, but all its appearances packed a visual punch. Green is awesome. End of discussion.

Olivia Wilde chose to wear a deep shade of the colour in this Gucci gown, custom made for her fuller figure.  The column dress with micro sequins also featured a low back and three-quarter sleeves.  She looked amazing, with her ombre locks worn in a tousled style and the barest of make-up on her face.

2014 Golden Globes - Neutrals (Part II)

Jennifer Lawrence picked up her Best Supporting Actress trophy for 'American Hustle' in a Christian Dior Fall 2013 gown.  The strapless white dress with two black waistbands had a familiar silhouette but Jennifer updated the look with her pixie hairstyle, those emerald earrings by Neil Lane and the burgundy lip colour.

2014 Golden Globes - Neutrals (Part I)

Rashida Jones brought her cool style to the red carpet at the Golden Globes.  The 'Parks & Recreation' star wore a dress from the Fausto Puglisi Spring 2014 collection.  I loved this cream dress with a gold embellished palm tree design from the moment I saw the runway picture and I can't think of a better person to wear it than Rashida. A top-knot, pear ear-cuffs and a dark lip colour complimented her look.

2014 Golden Globes - Black (Part II)

Black, as always, was a favourite for many stars at last night's Golden Globe Awards.

Jessica Chastain created a bombshell look in her custom black Givenchy dress.  The pattern on the dress created wonderful curves for the red headed actress, who wore her locks in retro manner and finished the look with a stunning Bulgari necklace.

2014 Golden Globes - Black (Part I)

Cate Blanchett was as queenly and ethereal as always in a gorgeous, delicate black lace and tulle Armani Privé gown.  I was a little surprised as Cate does love to wear colour on the red carpet.  Nevertheless, she oozed sophistication with the addition of the faux-bob hairstyle, those gorgeous diamond earrings and the pink lips.

Kate Beckinsale in Gucci - 2013 Warner Bros. and InStyle Post-Golden Globes Party

Kate Beckinsale was my best dressed at the 2013 Warner Bros. and InStyle Post-Golden Globes Party.

She looked beautiful, wearing a strapless Gucci Spring 2013 dress with a ruffled bust.

A soft updo, and a gold neck piece completed her feminine look.

Odette Annable was stunning like always, at the 2013 Warner Bros. and InStyle Post-Golden Globes Party.

She wore the rich purple, one-shoulder Rachel Roy Spring 2013 dress (which I pinned as my favourite on my Spring 2013 board) with bright yellow edges.

Odette's hair and accessories were perfect too, I am lusting over those bright yellow Louboutins.

Nina Dobrev looked charming at the 2013 Warner Bros. and InStyle Post-Golden Globes Party on Sunday.

It was a baby blue, textured dress from the Oscar de la Renta Spring 2013 collection for Nina and she looked lovely.

A high bun and fresh make-up, along with Jimmy Choo 'Brazil' sandals finished off her look.

Thandie Newton graced the 2013 Warner Bros. and InStyle Post-Golden Globes Party (as well as the Golden Globes red carpet, actually) on Sunday night.

The stunning British actress wore a glittering mini dress from British label Giles' Spring 2013 collection.

The high neck, light colour and embellishments are pretty spectactular without the dress looking like it belongs on the ice.

Thandie completed her look with pink lips and pale blue sandals.

Jessica Alba worked the black and white out of her checkered Louis Vuitton Spring 2013 dress at the 2013 Warner Bros. and InStyle Post-Golden Globes Party.

While Jess looked good in the dress that she wore with a side ponytail and bright lips, I have a feeling this collection is going to get tiresome too soon.

The young actress went for an LBD with a twist by Maria Lucia Hohan.  The strapless dress with a flared skirt was accessorised by Emma with a Jennifer Behr headband and red pumps by Louboutin.

Berenice Marlohe of 'Skyfall' fame attended the 2013 Warner Bros. and InStyle Post-Golden Globes Party in LA.

The French actress wore a Monique Lhuillier Spring 2013 creation to the party.  I love this midnight blue, netted tulle dress with floral applique.

Berenice went for a dark romantic look with curly hair and dark smokey eyes.

The pregnant actress looked pretty in an Alberta Ferretti Spring 2013 dress.  I loved the beautiful shades of blue throughout this collection.

Malin completed the look with a metallic clutch and wavy hair.

Julianne Hough attended the 2013 Warner Bros. and InStyle Post-Golden Globes Party after attending the Globes with Ryan Seacrest.

The actress/dancer changed into a moody pink Jenny Packham Fall 2012 gown for the part, which looked more comfortable than her red carpet choice.

She kept the same hair and make-up.

Sophia Bush in Lisa Ho - 2013 Warner Bros. and InStyle Post-Golden Globes Party

Sophia Bush attended the 2013 Warner Bros. and InStyle Post-Golden Globes Party.

She wore a white dress by the Australian designer Lisa Ho and looked very pretty.  The elegant silk dress featured folded shoulder frills and a slight peplum.

Sophia completed the look with an updo, Amrapali jewels, a bold neon pink lip colour and a DVF clutch.

2013 Golden Globes - Maroon

Deep red was a constant on the red carpet at this year's Golden Globe Awards.  Whether it was on a dress or on lips, this colour was seemingly everywhere.

Miranda Kerr attended the Globes with her handsome husband Orlando Bloom.  While the two didn't pose on the red carpet, they did attend the ceremony and later posed at the InStyle post Golden Globes party.

Miranda was a siren in a plunging Zuhair Murad Fall 2012 dress with a gathering of fabric near the hip and a leg split.  The rich, wine colour was divine as was her hair and dark make-up.  She wore statement earrings by H. Stern and carried a clutch and wore shoes, all by Ferragamo.

2013 Golden Globes - Red/Pink

Apart from black, red was the boldest shade of the night, and there were a few shades of pink and maroon too.

Jessica Alba was just gorgeous in a melon coloured Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2013 gown.  The gown fit her like a glove and highlighted her curves.

Her styling was just as impeccable.  Wavy locks, bright lips, a diamond neck piece by Harry Winston and a flirty, feathered Roger Vivier clutch in a dark orange shade.
