Rooney Mara in J.W. Anderson - 'Ain’t Them Bodies Saints' Premiere at the 2013 L.A. Film Festival

Rooney Mara joined her co-star, Casey Affleck at the premiere of 'Ain't Them Bodies', their new film, at the LA Film Festival.

Rooney looked absolutely fantastic in a dark blue ensemble from the J.W. Anderson Spring 2013 collection.  I love the flirty hemlines of the crop top and skirt, and I'm especially glad that it isn't black.

A cool updo and Jimmy Choo sandals completed her look.

Rooney Mara in Calvin Klein - 2013 CFDA Awards

The always consistent Rooney Mara attended this year's CFDA Awards with Calvin Klein's Francisco Costa.

She wore a black (obviously) dress by Calvin Klein with an interesting asymmetrical hemline and cut-outs.  As always, a bun and black sandals finished out her look.  It is dull but there's no denying that she looked good.

Naomi Watts, Karolina Kurkova & Rooney Mara - 'For the Love of Cinema' Event in Cannes

Naomi Watts, Karolina Kurkova and Rooney Mara made stunning appearances at the 'For the Love of Cinema' event last night, hosted by the Swiss luxury watchmaker IWC Schaffhausen.

Naomi wore a strapless Dolce & Gabbana dress with a wonderful, sweet floral print on a black satin background.  I loved the the length of this dress and how it was styled.

Karolina Kurkova went for a head to toe Balmain look.  Her Pre-Fall 2013 dress was very similar to the dresses from the Fall collection.  She worked it as always.

Rooney Mara also attended, in a strange Vera Wang Fall 2013 dress which looked like a modern cocoon.  As always, a bun, and black sandals finished her look.

Rooney Mara in Christian Dior - 'Ain't Them Bodies Saints' Cannes Photocall

Rooney Mara attended the photocall of her movie 'Ain't Them Bodies Saints' in Cannes yesterday.  The movie, which stars Ben Foster and Casey Affleck, is competing in the International Critics' Week section at the festival.

Rooney wore a black and white dress from the Christian Dior Fall 2013 collection.  She looked great in the two-tone dress, worn with another sleek updo, ear cuffs and Brian Atwood 'Aida' sandals.

At one point, I thought I would tire of Rooney's black and white/dark colours palette but she keeps it interesting with looks from Alexander McQueen, J. Mendel, and her go-to Givenchy.

Rooney Mara in Giambattista Valli - 'The Great Gatsby' Cannes Film Festival Party

Rooney Mara attended the party held for 'The Great Gatsby' during the second night of the Cannes Film Festival.

The actress stuck to monochrome in this Giambattista Valli jumpsuit from a previous collection.  I love the white draping against the structure of the jumpsuit.

A sleek, centre-parted bun, flawless make-up and Jimmy Choo sandals finished her look.

Calvin Klein 'Women in Film' Cannes Party

The annual Calvin Klein 'Women in Film' party took place last night in France; all the ladies wore Calvin Klein.  Click here to check out the fashion from 2012.

Carey Mulligan and Nicole Kidman both wore black. I liked Carey's simple look and appreciated Nicole's leather dress.

Rooney Mara was all about the bare minimum in her silk slip dress, slick bun and dewy make-up.

Naomie Harris cut a sharp figure in her dove grey cut-out dress, she was my favourite at this event.

Rooney Mara in Givenchy - 2013 Met Ball

This year's co-chair of the Met Ball, Rooney Mara wore a dress from Givenchy by Ricardo Tisci (who was also on the board).

She looked beautiful in the white, lace gown with zippers and a low-cut neckline.  I love how delicate the fabric is and how tough her make-up is, with the hairstyle and dark lip colour.

Givenchy and Rooney are the equivalent of Marion of Dior.

Rooney Mara in Alexander McQueen - 'Side Effects' NYC Premiere

Rooney Mara attended the premiere of her latest movie 'Side Effects' at the AMC Lincoln Square in New York City on Thursday.

She wore a pure white Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2013 dress.  I am in love with this dramatic collection and this dress exuded an almost royal feel with the ornate white embroidery and a frill tiered hem.

Rooney opted for a fresh-face, as usual, finishing off her look with a centre-parted slick low bun, pink lips and nude peep-toes.

Rooney Mara in Givenchy - 2012 Met Ball

Rooney Mara returned to her comfort zone of the black dress as she attended the Met Ball in NYC on Monday night.

She wore a lacy, one-shoulder Givenchy Couture dress which had a leather waistband and a sheer skirt.

Her hair was slicked back into a low bun, and she sported a dark lip colour.

Rooney Mara In Givenchy - 2012 Oscars

Rooney Mara did not wear black to the Oscars.

The actress, who was nominated for her portrayal of Lisbeth Salander in 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' wore a Givenchy Couture gown.

The sculptural bodice, and the mermaid hem are lovely and the colour suits Rooney's skin tone.  She wore her hair in a ballerina bun (but kept her bangs) and completed the look with red lips.

Rooney Mara In J. Mendel - 2012 Costume Designers Guild Awards

Rooney Mara wore a J. Mendel Fall 2012 dress to the 2012 Costume Designers Guild Awards in Beverley Hills.

The eggplant coloured dress with a plunge-neck dress was great on Rooney (and I'm glad she's finally running out of LBDs).

 She wore it not with black pumps, but nude sandals and used a lipstick that matched her dress.

Rooney Mara In Thierry Mugler & Asos - 2012 Oscar Nominees Luncheon

Rooney Mara (nominated in the Best Actress category for 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo') attended the Oscars Luncheon in a jumpsuit by Asos, topped off with a Thierry Mugler jacket.

After wearing dresses through most of her red carpet appearances thus far, it was great to see Rooney sport a jumpsuit.  It had a sculptural feel to it, as did the snow-white jacket - typically Rooney.

A simple ponytail with blunt bangs and warm make-up completed her look.

Rooney Mara In Louis Vuitton - Santa Barbara International Film Festival

Hold the presses. Rooney Mara isn't wearing black or white.

The Academy Award-nominated actress left me shocked in a forest green  

Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2012 dress as she attended the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, where she received the Virtuoso award as an upcoming actress.

The structured, sleeveless frock with dips at the waist was wonderful on Rooney.  She also wore the accompanying coat outside.

A low ponytail with a deep side-parting, kohl-rimmed eyes, neutral lips and Giambattista Valli sandals were the finishing touches.

Rooney Mara In Givenchy - 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' Tokyo Premiere

'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' premiered in Tokyo today.  

Rooney Mara wore a Givenchy Spring 2012 dress to the event.  I'm sure many of you will be pleased to see her in something non-black, I sure am. 

The sculptural white dress was worn by Rooney without the sheer underlay which was a good idea. As usual, she went for a lacquered locks look and completed it with sleek white sandals.

2012 Golden Globes - Black

Rooney Mara wore black, as was expected.  The Best Actress (Drama) nominee wore a Nina Ricci Pre-Fall 2012 gown.  The plunge-neck tulle bodice & long column skirt were simple yet perfect for the scale of the event.  Rooney chose to sweep back her bangs and wore very less make-up.

Rooney Mara In Lanvin - 2012 AFI Awards

Rooney Mara went back to black (with the addition of a dull gold this time) in a Lanvin Pe-Fall 2012 dress for the AFI Awards.

Love this dress!  The ruffled bodice is so architectural, as is the black skirt.

Rooney wore her hair up, and added Brian Atwood 'Debra Due' satin pumps to the look.

Yes, it's black, and an LBD... but the YSL shoes are kind of colourful right?

Rooney Mara In Dion Lee & Valentino - 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' Rome Photocall & Premiere

Rooney Mara travelled to Rome for the photocall & premiere of 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo'.

For the photocall, Rooney wore a tried and tested LBD - this one by Dion Lee - that had a leather finish & cutouts.

For the premiere however, Rooney wore red!  The semi-sheer Valentino Spring 2012 gown looks lovely on her.  I like how her blunt bangs & minimal make-up balance out the sweetness of the dress.

After the Miu Miu ensemble at the photocall, Rooney changed into a Michael Kors Pre-Fall 2012 dress for the Berlin premiere of 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo'.

Girl's on a roll.

Rooney wore the black mullet dress sans the belt and black peeptoes.

Rooney Mara In Miu Miu - 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' Berlin Photocall

Rooney Mara jetted off to Berlin, for the premiere of 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo'.

For the day photocall, she wore a Miu Miu Spring 2012 ensemble.
 

The lavender coloured cropped top is paired with a black A-line skirt and worked well on Rooney.  She wore it with a ponytail, and black sandals. 

I think it's probably because she's new to the red carpet scene that anything Rooney wears feels fresh.  But I'm ready to see her in new looks now.
