Alessandra Ambrosio in Nonoo - 2014 CFDA Awards

Alessandra Ambrosio was stunning, at the 2014 CFDA Awards last night at the Alice Tully Hall in NYC.

The Victoria's Secret angel wore a silk red Nonoo dress which looked lovely against her tanned skin.  A sleek, low bun and gold earrings by Jennifer Fisher finished off her look. Just another day in the office.

Heidi Klum in Donna Karan - 2014 CFDA Awards

Heidi Klum looked radiant in her peach Donna Karan Resort 2015 creation, at the CFDA Awards last evening.

The plunging neckline didn't look tacky at all on Heidi, who carried the entire dress off serenely - one of her best looks to date.

Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen - 2014 CFDA Awards

The Olsen sisters walked the red carpet together at the 2014 CFDA Awards, where they also received the award for Accessories Designer of the Year for their label, The Row.

The sisters both wore black ensembles, cinched in at the waist to create a silhouette and shape.  I preferred Ashley's choice of jewelry however.

Olivia Palermo in Ann Taylor - 2014 CFDA Awards

Olivia Palermo donned a textured sweater and fringed skirt, all by Ann Taylor for her outing at the 2014 CFDA Awards.

Even though I hate that she wore something so heavy and dark in June, I love the accessories.  The choker, the Lulu Guinness clutch and those lust worthy Aquazzura heels are all beautiful.

Models at the 2014 CFDA Awards

The 2014 CFDA Awards took place last night.  So obviously, there were models present.

Hilary Rhoda was my favourite.  She looked exquisite in her peach J. Mendel Spring 2014 gown, worn with wavy hair and striking dark lips.

Jessica Stam looked statuesque in a white jumpsuit with a keyhole neckline.

Chanel Iman looked lovely in her black lace Monique Lhuillier gown with embellishments.

Brie Larson in Diane Von Furstenburg - 2014 CFDA Awards

Brie Larson wore a star print black dress from DVF for the CFDA Awards.

Brie is a bit of a hit and miss when it comes to the red carpet for me but I liked her in this simple, sweet dress.  Nothing spectacular, but nothing I could find flaws in.

Blake Lively in Michael Kors - 2014 CFDA Awards

Fashion's eternal It-Girl Blake Lively attended the 2014 CFDA Awards last night.

She wore a Michael Kors mini and showed off her long legs.  The green dress was embellished with tiny pink stars and Blake took that colour to her shoes too (I don't like them - too clunky).

A sixties theme ran through her look, from the big hair, hoop earrings, to the glossy make-up.  It was worlds apart from her Cannes wins but I wasn't a big fan.  The moniker "Barbie" Lively is perfectly applicable here.

Jennifer Hudson in Kaufmanfranco - 2014 CFDA Awards

Jennifer Hudson cut a chic figure at the 2014 CFDA Awards in New York City last night.

She wore an elegant black Kaufmanfranco gown with a one shoulder.  Red lips and black sandals finished off the look.

Lupita Nyong'o in Suno - 2014 CFDA Awards

Lupita Nyong'o was in attendance at the fashion awards too.

She took a left turn suddenly, ditching Prada and Miu Miu for this kitschy Suno creation. It might not be a pretty dress but this is what Lupita is fast becoming known for - doing the unexpected.

The colours worked for her, and her make-up was equally colourful as always.

Marion Cotillard in Christian Dior - 2014 CFDA Awards

Marion Cotillard represented Christian Dior, of course, at the 2014 CFDA Awards.

She picked an airy number from the label's Spring 2014 Couture collection in fresh white. I know I didn't cover Cannes this year, but Marion didn't have a lot of luck there in dresses from Dior, so this was a slight improvement.

Also, I know Marion loves the bare faced, fresh faced look in terms of make-up but a bright lip colour wouldn't have gone amiss here.  Some colour was added via her lemon yellow Dior pumps however.

Chrissy Teigen in Rachel Roy - 2014 CFDA Awards

Chrissy Teigen attended the CFDA Awards last night in New York City.

The Sports Illustrated covergirl wore a lovely, tangerine hued Rachel Roy dress with lace overlay.  I loved the coloured blazer that topped off the look too, and it complimented the dress in an unexpected way.

Chrissy's look was finished off with a gold box clutch and nude Christian Louboutin pumps.

Emmy Rossum in J. Mendel - 2014 CFDA Awards

Emmy Rossum was a delight to watch at the 2014 CFDA Awards.

The actress selected a vibrant moss green J. Mendel Spring 2014 dress with a beautiful embellished bodice and a pleated, layered skirt.  The colour was wonderful on her.

A braided updo and a gentle smokey eye balanced each other and Emmy completed the look with a gold clutch and black Manolo Blahnik pumps.

Jaime King in Calvin Klein - 2014 CFDA Awards

Jaime King also wore Calvin Klein to the CFDA Awards.

It was a white column dress for her, also custom-made, with panels of tassels adoring the front strategically.

The clean, simple look fit in with the Calvin Klein aesthetic.

Solange Knowles in Calvin Klein - 2014 CFDA Awards

Solange Knowles attended the annual CFDA Awards, this year accompanying creative head Francisco Costa of Calvin Klein.

Usually one to opt for bright hues, Solange was dressed in a silver custom made dress with long tassels and delicate straps at the shoulder.  I loved the fluidity and the movement of the dress.

Solange accessorised with Jennifer Fisher jewels, a bright pink lip and natural hair, all of which work well with the dress.

Olivia Wilde, Busy Phillips & Beth Behrs - 2014 CFDA Awards

The 2014 CFDA Awards took place in New York City last evening.

Olivia Wilde wore a fringed black one shoulder dress from Decades LA with soft wavy hair and black accessories.

Busy Phillips was clad in a red Honor gown with a high neck, although that white Irene Neuwirth necklace did puzzle me.

Beth Behrs looked sprightly in her emerald green Alice + Olivia ensemble of a crop top and a skirt with a high-low hemline.  I love the playfullness of her look.

Keri Russell in Rosie Assoulin - 2014 CFDA Awards

Keri Russell attended the CFDA Awards with designer Rosie Assoulin, wearing a gown from her Fall 2014 collection.

Rosie Assoulin is having a bit of a moment on the red carpet, and it's no wonder - the gown is well made and has personality.

Kerri let her natural beauty shine with a messy updo, barely there make-up and Irene Neuwirth jewelry.   It's not the most glamorous look but there's a charm to it that I adore.

Sophia Bush in Marchesa - 2014 CFDA Awards

A newly blonde Sophia Bush attended the 2014 CFDA Awards in NYC last night.

It was a white Marchesa Fall 2014 dress for her; I like the delicate details of the floral cut outs on the sleeves, but then that's signature Marchesa.

Sophia finished out the look with a serious statement neck piece by Dannijo and a romantic burgundy lip colour.  A Rauwolf clutch and Stuart Weitzman's popular 'Nudist' sandals completed the rest of her look.

Rihanna in Adam Selman - 2014 CFDA Awards

Rihanna delivered shocks and received some reactions when she walked into the Alice Tully Hall in NYC.

She wore a "naked" dress, as it was dubbed by her stylist Mel Ottenberg and designed by her good friend Adam Selman.  The sheer fishnet dress in the palest of pinks was covered in over 200,000 Swarovski crystals.

Rihanna took the look to a new level with a matching headscarf, gloves and a matching pink stole.  Smokey eyes, a dusty pink lip colour and complimentary jewels finished off her look.  Like it or not, it's something only Rihanna could have worn so confidently and for that I admire her.

More from the 2013 CFDA Awards

The annual Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) awards took place in NYC on Monday night.

Adriana Lima wore a gorgeous Givenchy Fall 2013 gown with a shimmering bodice, full sleeves and a sheer tulle long skirt, catch Joan Smalls in a similar dress here.

Candice Swanepoel wore a Prabal Gurung Fall 2013 dress; the white frock featured sequins and a one-shoulder. Candice finished off with a natural looking face, clutch and chunky heels.

Alessandra Ambrosio wore a slinky white Kaufman Franco dress that was entirely backless; sleek straight hair, smoky eyes and glossy nude lips completed her look.

Miranda Kerr in Proenza Schouler - 2013 CFDA Awards

Miranda Kerr was in attendance at the 2013 CFDA Awards, held at the Alice Tully Hall in New York City on Monday evening.

The supermodel wore a very colourful and refreshing, blue and green Proenza Schouler frock which was classic in its silhouette but unexpected when it came to the square neckline.

Beauty and hair wise, she opted for a low bun and signature pink lips and completed the look with Jennifer Meyer jewelry, a large metallic clutch and ankle-strap black heels - both by Stuart Weitzman. Beautiful as always.
