Halle Berry in Elie Saab - 2014 Huading Film Awards

I'm back!

Halle Berry attended the 2014 Huading Film Awards in LA last night looking gorgeous.

She belied her age in a sleek, pretty black Elie Saab gown with a dainty floral motif, a little bit of lace and a leg slit.

It's a soft, feminine look and works well on her.  I'd say a more sleek shoe, like a sandal would have been preferred but this works nonetheless!

Halle Berry in Versace - 2013 Oscars

Halle Berry didn't disappoint at this awards ceremony.

The beautiful actress wore Versace at the Golden Globes too, but this Versace look was a vast improvement.  The black based gown was embroidered with gold and silver thread, and also captured the stripes trend.

Signature spiked hair, along with black drop earrings completed the look.

Halle Berry in Vivienne Westwood - 2013 NAACP Image Awards

Halle Berry also attended the 2013 NAACP Image Awards.

She looked stunning in a two-tone, draped silk Vivienne Westwood gown that highlighted her amazing figure.  Halle should have done something more along the lines of this at the Golden Globes too.

2013 Golden Globes - Red/Pink

Apart from black, red was the boldest shade of the night, and there were a few shades of pink and maroon too.

Jessica Alba was just gorgeous in a melon coloured Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2013 gown.  The gown fit her like a glove and highlighted her curves.

Her styling was just as impeccable.  Wavy locks, bright lips, a diamond neck piece by Harry Winston and a flirty, feathered Roger Vivier clutch in a dark orange shade.

Halle Berry in Monique Lhuillier & Roberto Cavalli - 'Cloud Atlas' Premiere at 2012 TIFF

Halle Berry made a red carpet appearance after long at the Toronto Film Festival.

She premiered her new movie 'Cloud Atlas' at the event wearing a pant suit from the Roberto Cavalli Fall 2012 collection.  Underneath she wore a sheer, dotted blouse from the Monique Lhuillier Fall 2012 collection.

I like that jacket on Halle but that's about it.  The dotted blouse looked odd with that print on the suit and I wish the pants were straight leg or skinny, instead of being flared.

Halle styled it with tassel earrings and glossy lips.

Fashion Roundup

It has been a slow week, not many great outfits. Here's a summary of some of the looks that worked and others that didn't quite do it.

Jennifer Lopez, at the final of the
American Idol wore a sparkly, nude Michael Kors jumpsuit with heels from the label. As far as most of her previous attempts at jumpsuits go, this was an improvement. However, it's still unsightly below the waist and makes her leg look stumpy.

Halle Berry showed off her tummy in an asymmetrical jersey Halston dress. We know, Halle, you have an amazing body but the giant cutout takes it a little too far.

Katie Holmes wore her own label, Holmes & Yang at an event. The fuschia shade is gorgeous and I like the pussy bow blouse but the maxi skirt is ill fitting, instead of separates, this piece would have looked better as a dress.

Kate Winslet looked mighty elegant in NYC, in a monochromatic Narciso Rodriguez gown. She balanced the geometric pattern of the dress with a soft hair do, drop earrings and red lipstick.

At the Kung Fu Panda 2 LA premiere, Angelina wore a black Michael Kors dress. It's trademark Angelina in that it's a safe silhouette and black, I'm glad she wore her hair up though, it lends a youthful touch to the look.

Lucy Liu was also present at the premiere, she chose a flirty white Marchesa dress, with nude peeptoes.

Jessica Biel, at a Revlon event, wore a teal coloured suit. It's not so much the colour that I hate, nor the overall suit - there's just too much teal though, she should have broken it up somewhere, maybe a different coloured shirt, or jacket?

Carrie Underwood, also at the American Idol red carpet, wore a lovely, beaded Lorena Sarbu tunic with embellished nude heels. The tunic is beautiful, and those heels make her legs look miles long!

Fashion Roundup

Here are some of last week's looks, overshadowed by the frivolities of the Cannes Film Festival.

Molly Sims attended the World Ocean Day in a gorgeous, tomato-red dress which she wore with nude peeptoes and carried a black clutch.

Halle Berry was seen at an LA exhibition in a white suit, worn with a casual printed top and gold hoop earrings. I'm on the fence about the top, it seems too casual for a suit.

Sophia Bush was seen in an eccentric plaid and ruffles Zac Posen frock - I quite like this dress, very unique.

Kristen Bell was at the premiere of the new "Hangover" movie, in a two-tone pastel J Mendel frock, variations of which have previously been seen on Taylor Swift and Kristen Stewart.

Brooklyn Decker was seen out and about first in a cool semi-casual get up where she paired a faded chambraiy shirt with a metallic tulip skirt, worn with Miu Miu platforms.

The later look saw her wear a sunny yellow mini with a statement black necklace, I wish she'd left those unsighlty open-toed sandals out though.

Lake Bell looked cute in a red mini with black beading, loving those grey sandals, very unusual pairing.

Actress Katie Cassidy looked statuesque in a printed, assymetric Catherine Malandrino gown which she wore with purple Brian Atwoods.

Fashion Roundup

Camilla Alves & Matthew McConaughey, seen at the premiere of his new flick, "The Lincoln Lawyer" - Camilla wore a simple black Camilla & Marc gown and Matthew opted for a grey Dolce & Gabbana suit. The suit's a little too shiny for my liking but at least he broke away from black! And anyone notice how beautiful they look together?

Rashida Jones was also at a screening of her new movie, "Monogamy". Jones wore a printed yellow and black Thakoon sheath, pairing it with black tights and booties. It's a tad too busy but it's the fringe that I have the real issue with.

Mila Kunis attended the Cosmopolitan Awards, in NYC wearing this all white Bocanegra suit, love the way she balanced the sharpness by wearing her hair loose and flowy.

Emma Stone took in the Louis Vuitton Fall 2011 show in Paris wearing a wrap dress - it's too 80's for my liking and those suede boots are not helping.

Aishwarya Rai was at a charity event wearing a pale Abu Jaani & Sandeep Khosla salwar kameez with Aldo sandals - she looks absolutely lovely and suitably restrained for the event.

Jennifer Aniston was in Mexico City for the launch of her perfume. She wore a one-shoulder nude Valentino Haute Couture dress with strappy sandals. The dress showcases her toned body and that golden tan perfectly!

Nicole Richie attended the Givenchy show in Paris wearing this leather sheath with snakeskin print Louboutins. It's a very fierce look for her but she just about pulls it off... if only she'd gone easy on the fake tan.

Emmy Rossum was at an event wearing this beautiful amber coloured Amanda Wakely dress, it had me at the colour! But she accessorised it well too, with those statement earrings and gold heels.

At the NAACP Image Awards, Kerry Washington wore a simple yet feminine Zac Posen gown, the colour and cut look very fresh on her.

Halle Berry wore a Pucci gown with cutouts. Only she could rock a dress like this without looking tacky!

The Oscars - Pastels Trend

Pastels and light shades were in abundance, yet again.

Florence Welch wore Valentino Haute Couture, the colour does nothing for her! It's a total washout.

Mandy Moore kept it simple and pretty in a sparkly, tulle Monique Lhuillier gown. I love her makeup and hair.

Lilac was seen on both Mila Kunis & Cate Blanchett and both did justice to their respective gowns!

Mila wore Elie Saab (it's similar to the red lace dress that Halle Berry wore a couple of days ago), it's soft and feminine and suits Mila.

Cate looked queenly in a Givenchy number - it's edgy yet feminine and the pleats and beading add bonus points.

Halle Berry wore a gorgeous confection by Marchesa, I love the frothy bottom part! The nudey colour looks beautiful against her skin tone.

Celebrating Costume Designers

Costume designers have a such a big contribution towards the movies that we watch! The first impressions are always made by appearance and the designers have a big contribution in helping create 'looks' for characters. The Costume Designers Guild Awards took place in LA last night and here are the famous few attendees.

Kristin Davis looked very pretty in a monochromatic polka dot gown by Oscar
de la Renta - it suits her style perfectly!

Halle Berry turned heads in a stunning red lace dress by Elie Saab - she should have worn something like this at the Golden Globes!

Demi Moore wore an electric blue ruched column gown with a fishtail braid and drop diamond earrings, I'm skeptical about the ruching near the leg but all in all, this look is a winner. The colour looks gorgeous on her and once again she defies nature by looking like this at forty-freaking-eight.

Claire Danes wore a grey Lanvin dress with embellishments - it's really dull and I'm not particularly liking the slicked back hair.

Golden Globes - Other Trends

Here are some of the other trends that were seen on the red carpet at the 2011 Golden Globes.

*Click on the pictures for a clearer look

Blue was a major colour of the evening. Mandy Moore wore
Monique Lhuillier again and it worked again! Although I wish she'd put her hair up so we could see the gauzy one shoulder. Amber Riley's glittery Oliver Tolentino dress made her look like a total diva, but I was not a fan of Jenna Uschkowitz' cornflower blue Rebecca Taylor gown, it seemed very ordinary. Amy Adams was elegance personified in a navy Marchesa dress.

Black also made its presence felt; Jayma Mays wore Alberta Ferretti but I hated the hair and make up, the eyes especially! Julia Stiles showed up on the red carpet after a long time in a Ramona Keveza gown (kinda similar to Mandy Moore's) but I was left a little disappointed with Halle Berry's black Nina Ricci dress, it was from the 2008 collection and I don't understand why she didn't go with something from the current collection. It's not as if the 2008 dress was jaw-droppingly amazing or anything...

Green was seen on both Angelina Jolie (in Atelier Versace), Mila Kunis (in Vera Wang) & Catherine Zeta Jones (pictured) who walked with husband Michael Douglas (who's recovering after battling throat cancer) in a forest green Monique Lhuillier confection. The colour looked great on her and I liked the way she wore her hair, it made her look almost regal.

More neutral shade wearers - Heather Morris in a very pale gold Lorena Sabu number, Naya Rivera in a strapless pale pink Douglas Hannant column dress and Scarlett Johansson in a sparkly Elie Saab dress that seemed to almost meld with her skin! Not a fan of Scarlett's hairstyle though.

This Week in Fashion

Been a tad busy this week, so I'm rounding up my fashion faves of this week in this one post. First up, Elizabeth Banks, looking smashing in a canary yellow Max Mara dress - fab. Then there's the age defying Mrs. Kutcher looking half her age in a Topshop blazer, a low cut tunic an d motorcycle leggings. Reese Witherspoon comes next in a sweet little Jason Wu number at an Avon event. Freida Pinto continues with her amazing sartorial choices, wearing this pink Resort 2011 Marchesa gown, love that she let the dress do the talking by going jewelery-less. Halle Berry looked hawwwwt in a short silver dress which she wore with such elegance! Leighton Meester looks like such a doll in an all Ellie Saab ensemble, love every single thing about it. Jessica Biel & Eva Mendes were spotted at the same event looking gorgeous! Biel wore a black lacy Oscar de La Renta while Eva wore a beautiful corset number from Lela Rose which really suited her complexion. All in all, good week for these celebs!

Carousel of Hope Gala

Halle Berry & Jennifer Lopez attended the Carousal of Hope Gala in Bev Hills looking gorgeous! JLo was with her hubby, Marc Anthony and apart from the weird expression on her solo pose, she looks lovely in a white Georges Chakra dress complete with Neil Lane jewels. But have to say, Ms. Berry looked amaaaazing in a red hot Yves Saint Laurent dress... how is this woman 44 years old?! She was joined by her current beau, actor Olivier Martinez; such a great looking pair!
