Kim Kardashian In Gucci - New Year's Style

Kim Kardashian partied it up in Las Vegas last night, wearing a Gucci dress.

The white dress with a heavily embellished, keyhole neckline was worn by Indian actress, Preity Zinta earlier this year, at the Venice Film Festival (click here).

While on Preity, the dress looks subtly glamorous, on Kim it's predictably 'sexified' and hence loses its elegance.

The reality star wore it with a straight hairstyle, featuring blunt bangs & silver Louboutins.

Fergie In Isabel Marant

Fergie landed in Brazil, in a black (the original is in white) Fall 2011 Isabel Marant mini.

The woven, wool and tassle mini with full sleeves was worn by Fergie with a slicked back bun, aviators & peeptoes.

This particular dress has been very popular with celebrities this season.

Demi Lovato wore it in LA (click here) & Kim Kardashian (click here) in Australia.

Kim Kardashian In Roland Mouret

At the AOL/Huffington Post Game Changers awards in NYC, Kim Kardashian wore a Roland Mouret dress.

The deep red gown with an origami fold neckline and mermaid hem looked amazing on Kim and accentuated her hourglass figure.

I like how she wore her tresses in a fishtail braid rather than the usual tousled, or sleek ponytail styles she favours.  Love the gold earrings and the Judith Leiber clutch.

Australian actress Mia Wasikowska wore the same dress at the Cannes Film Festival back in May but I prefer the dress on Kim.  (Click here to see Mia)

In Salvatore Ferregamo

Ferregamo's Fall 2011 houndstooth print dress is proving to be quite the hit amongst celebrities around the world!

Kim Kardashian wore the dress on a talk show in NYC, styling it up with a sleek ponytail, diamond earrings, red lipstick and black Casadei pumps.

It's a classic dress, and I like how she kept things simple yet striking.

Lady Gaga wore the dress a few weeks ago, with matching accessories, including the heels from the runway.  I like the layered pearls she's sporting.

Indian actress, Sonakshi Sinha wore the piece for a Vogue event in India - she chose red lipstick too but kept her hair straight down, and finished off with a black cross-body bag and peeptoes.

Out of the three, my favourite has to be Kim. She really understood the dress and styled accordingly.

August In A Rush

Hello folks! Despite not blogging for a while, I had been keeping an eye on the world of fashion and here are my top looks from the month of August.

Marisa Tomei's Preen dress from the Venice Film was wonderful and she did not ruin the look by wearing plain black pumps, but smartly chose those sleek sandals.

SJP opted for a Prabal Gurung sheath on the promo tour for her summer movie, "I Don't Know How She Does It", wearing it with cap toe heels (an odd choice, but that's Sarah Jessica Parker for you!).

Olivia Munn struck gold at a movie premiere in August, by choosing this colour-block, one-shoulder Carolina Herrera cocktail dress and those delicious coral and gold earrings. The slicked back hair added polish to her look, as did that clutch and nude leather peeptoes.

Hollywood favourite Emma Stone played with colour, in this hot pink Christopher Kane dress that had a pleated bottom. She finished the look off with satin lime-green Brian Atwoods and drop earrings.

Kim Kardashian looked great at a music do in a pale, figure-hugging Antonio Berardi gown with a signature cinched in waist.

Lea Michele finally did it - she looked effortlessly great at a Fox beach event in a column dress by Marchesa. Tousled hair and a jewelled Judith Leiber clutch finished off her look.

Zoe Saldana has had a fabulously stylish summer so it's no surprise that she features thrice in this post.

She worked the coloured leather mini dress trend in a salmon hued Valentino number, accessorising it with ivory earrings, clutch and nude pointy heels.  'Leather' and 'lady-like' don't usually mix but here's an exception!

Her playful Proenza Schouler dress was an instant hit with me - it's Proenza!

Anne Hathaway's Alexander McQueen LBD with gold detail had me reminiscing of her 'Princess Diaries' days and since I'm unashamedly a fan of the series, this was a good thing.
Her attempt at the suit might not have gone down well according to others but I love the quirk she's bringing with the plain ol' tailored blazer and pants.  I think it's those sunnies.

I make a list of the best looks and Diane Kruger isn't present in it? Highly improbable.  Miss Kruger lightened up the Instyle carpet in her menswear-inspired Jason Wu ensemble.  And those shoes.  Those shoes!

Olivia Palermo, an omnipresent member of standard best-dressed lists also makes an appearance in mine, thanks to her all-blue Tibi outfit.

The month saw many a stylish casual looks, but here are my favourites.

Freida Pinto rocked this colour-block Michael Kors dress like no other;  the matching sandals could have been a deal-breaker but they totally work here.  The strategically placed colour blocks add curves to the otherwise petite Freida - smart girl (or stylist).

Zoe Saldana nailed the jumpsuit trend in her silk, army-coloured number.  And those heels are beautiful!

When in London

Spotted: Leighton Meester & Kim Kardashian at their respective fragrance launches in London.

Leighton absolutely glowed in a sheer, sleeve-less mauve blouse worn with leather pants, all by Vera Wang (whose fragrance she is the face of) with matching chunky heels.
The soft coloured blouse, wavy hair and neutral make up are the perfect balance to the leather.

Kim went for colour-blocking in a two tone silk Gucci dress from the S/S 2011 collection. The dress is not appropriate for Kim's body type and the cutout is very unattractive too.

Glamour Awards 2011

Rosie Huntintdon Whiteley, Kristen Stewart and Kim Kardashian all made the guest list at this year's Glamour Awards, held in London.

Rosie went softer with her look, compare
d to the MTV Awards night, in a blush silk Stella McCartney dress with a leg slit, some pointy nude Louboutins and an embellished silver clutch.

Kristen too tone
d down her look, albeit still sticking to Balmain, in a pale, printed strapless mini which she wore with Guiseppe Zannoti peeptoes. The hair and make up while boring, was perfect nonetheless.

Kim Kardashian wore a signature, fitted gown - this time by Dolce & Gabbana. She changed up the hair though, in a low bun and wore some eye-catching earrings by Lorraine Schwartz, with matching stacked bangles.

White Off

Spotted: Kim Kardashian & Eva Mendes in cool white ensembles.

Kim was seen in Monte Carlo, in this halter white gown with a bow cinched waist; she kept her hair sideswept and loose and wore nude Louboutins. It's a different look from her in that the dress is not tightly fitted to her curves, but rather hanging a little loose. The simplicity of the dress let her show off her huge engagement rock!

Eva wore a cocktail dress, with a light tan belt accentuating her waist and patent nude Brian Atwood heels. I like this relaxed look, but would have preferred some simple strappy sandals instead of those heavy looking heels.

Fashion Roundup

I'm really liking Kim K's casual/semi-casual style of late. She knows what looks good on her and her looks are always so well co-ordinated in terms of accessories! She wore this black & white ensemble while dining out in LA. The waist-cinching belt matches her clutch & nude Louboutins! Everything lies in the detail.

Kristen Bell talked at the Alzheimer's Association benefit event wearing a bedazzled sheath by Sea with rosey metallic Brian Atwoods. It's perhaps a little too glitzy for a charity event but there's no denying that she looks great.

Nicky Hilton was at a brand's do wearing a very Nicole Richie-esque ensemble! The kimono top, long gold necklace, high heels... no complains though. Nicky's make up is fresh and clean and that makes this look work.

Alexa Chung, at a
GQ magazine event looked pretty great in burgundy jeans, a polka-dot top, a long blazer and the Chanel quilted purse.

At the John Varvatos Stuart House event in LA, Jayma Mays looked cute in a day look. She paired a white v-neck, sleeveless tank with a tan calf-length skirt. The straw bag is a nice relaxed touch and the black bow matches perfectly with her black flats!

Zoe Saldana too attended the event in a casual jeans look. The leather jacket is soft-looking and those leopard print heels add some pizzazz.

Jessica Alba went all edgy at an event in head-to-toe Proenza Schouler. It's all crazy but it's Proenza!

Malin Akerman was at a Rag & Bone opening wearing a white dress by the brand with edgy heels - it's minimal yet edgy.

Fashion Roundup

Sorry guys, didn't post yesterday - busy times! But here's the weekly Fashion Roundup.

Spotted in Paris - Nicole Richie, in a typically chic casual ensemble, only pick however would be the crushed and wrinkled skirt.

Miranda Kerr is also in the City of Lights, she walked around in this street look - I like everything about it, except for the tights (not opaque enough) and those chunky looking shoes.

Actress Michelle Monaghan was at the Tom Ford store launch, wearing a sand coloured Roland Mouret dress. The silhoutte is sleek but interesting, she's wearing dark purple Brian Atwoods.

Budding fashionista Emma Roberts wore a grey dress by Jenny Packham with sparkly embellishments, she finished off the look with some nude Brian Atwoods - effortless!

Nicole Richie attended an Oscar party wearing a white Halston dress with a cutout, I think the dress would have looked better without the cutout but everything else about her look is impeccable as always.

Amanda Seyfried stopped by the photographers before appearing on the Late Show in an eyelet print black dress - not a fan. The pattern isn't pretty and the raccoon-eye makeup doesn't suit Amanda.

Vanessa Hudgens wore a faux-wrap velvet Catherine Malandrino dress with delicate necklaces. But those fishnet tights must go ASAP!

Rumer Willis showed up at the Badgley Mischka store launch in this travesty of a dress - the colour's terrible, the material is tacky and her hair is frizzy!

Camilla Belle attended the Chanel dinner in Hollywood post Oscars in a navy tweed dress by the label with matching ankle-strap pumps, it's a very classy look.

Alexa Chung walked the red carpet at the NME Awards in London wearing a fierce galaxy print Christopher Kane mini with tights and rocked the look like she only knows how.

Jennifer Lopez attempted to channel her inner teenager in a wrong outfit. Everything about this look is wrong and the items must be returned to Forever 21, or whichever store she shopped at.

Kim Kardashian wore a breezy, yet chic casual outfit during a coffee run, the ripped jeans bother me but I love her loose-fitting top and that delicious Fendi Peekaboo tote! (Kind of weird how it showed up on her arm, I was talking about this bag with a friend only yesterday!)

Oscar Parties - Elton John's Bash

Elton John once again hosted a post-Oscars party and here are some of the fashionable faces.

Jenna Ushkowitz wore a plain black column gown with a scoop neck, she accessorised it perfectly with some heavy bangles and rings - it would have been a great look for a laid back kind of event, but as it is, it's not appropriate for an Oscar event and feels very bland.

Hayden Panettiere wore a draped white dress by Luca Luca - and she got it right this time, although the hair is too stiff.

Heidi Klum wore a dazzling (not in the best way) grey Julien McDonald dress - I know Heidi's style is always very all out but the mirrors, sparkles and lame fabric all add to make it look OTT (the glittery silver Louboutins don't help either).

Odette Yustman (from US drama Brothers & Sisters) looked wonderful in simple red Monique Lhuillier gown with a cutout. The pulled back hair and ear-studs help her achieve a clean, sparkling look! (Without any actual sequins/sparkles, listening Heidi?)

Kim Kardashian wore another navy, strapless, mermaid hem gown (this time by J Mendel). She's done this look to death, time to move on Kim.

Emma Roberts too wore a sparkly grey gown, by Jenny Packham - she looks absolutely lovely, no flaws.

The Grammys - Metallics Trend

This past Sunday night saw the Grammy Awards take place in Hollywood and as always, there were some prominent trends to be seen. Metallics were very popular!

Selena Gomez wore a shimmery pale gold gown by J Mendel and looked very elegant in it! She was carrying a Judith Lieber clutch.

Jennifer Lopez' silver Pucci mini was a little too much... a few inches towards the hemline wouldn't have hurt. She wore spikey silver Louboutins.

Heidi Klum looked amazing in a Julien McDonald gown in gold with flowy sleeves - the design is very reminiscent of Taylor Swift's Met Gala gown which she wore in 2010 (it was a Ralph Lauren).

Kim Kardashian looked kin
d of tacky! The Kaufman Franco dress isn't bad, it just looks bad on her voluptuous body type.

Screen Actors Guild Awards - The Blues

Blue was also a trending colour of the night, in various shades.

Kim Kar
dashian's dress isn't blue but it's in the same family. Her one-shoulder Marchesa gown in a deep purple looked lovely! She smartly layed off tons of make up, opting for a natural lip colour and bronzer. She's also fake tan-free! Claire Danes shook things up by wearing this printed floral Louis Vuitton dress. It sure is a different look than her usual minimalistic choices but she looks great.

Nicole Kidman wore a dark navy Nina Ricci gown, it fit her well but I wish Nicole would wear colour on the red carpet again! Getting bored of these snooze-worthy choices now. I might be in the minority here but I didn't like Dianna Agron's look. The dress was a vintage Chanel and I think it would have suited someone like Carey Mulligan more. I also had shoe issues! Those black Ferregamo pumps are so unsightly and chunky. The smoky eyes didn't work for me either, sorry Dianna!

Mariska Hargitay of Law & Order: SVU wore a bright indigo strapless gown by Isaac Mizrahi and added some interesting jewelery, love those turquoise earrings. Julia Stiles wore an ombré effect dress by Monique Lhuillier, simple but striking.

Fashion Roundup

*Click on the images for a clearer look.

Heidi Klum looked wonderful at an event in Germany, she wore a blue
Rachel Roy sheath which she paired with some chunky nude heels. Chanel darling Diane Kruger was seen in a fresh-of-the-runway frock in a baby pink colour; I'm loving the construction of the dress, it's fun yet elegant. Kerry Washington went for a Hervé Leger creation in a pale peach shade, she looks really great in it.

Olivia Wilde took in the Armani Privé show at the Paris Fashion Week and wore a low cut sparkly number from the label. Once again, no flaws to be found! Jessica Alba exited the Gucci store in Paris wearing this flirty floral skirt which she paired with some seriously fierce black booties. Thandie Newton looked all cool and collected in an aqua print Jonathan Saunders dress, the black Lulu Guinness lips clutch and white peeptoes really enhance the look.
Reese Witherspoon, while at an Avon event wore this lovely Jason Wu dress, it looks great on her and the colour is refreshing. Whitney Port wore this vintage Thierry Mugler dress at a L'Oreal event in NYC. Her shiny locks and the shiny pailletes on this dress make for a fab combo. Kim Kardashian's casual look was beautiful! I loved how she played with tan, gold and neutral shades without looking like an eye-sore... also, she seems to be make-up free! Hallelujah!

People's Choice Awards - Hits

So here are the good lookin' people with the good lookin' fashion. Natalie Portman (pictured with Ashton Kutcher) looked radiant in a ruffle-layer dark blue Jason Wu number. Her hair looked pretty and I loved her drop crystal earrings. Emma Roberts too wore a strapless ruffled Dior LBD, with rose satin Brian Atwood pumps and pale pink drop earrings! Simple, yet elegant.

Selena Gomez wore a pale Paul Ka number with Guiseppe Zanotti peeptoes and Taylor Swift wore a similar coloured J Mendel dress with Prada heels and Neil Lane jewels.

Kim Kardashian looked quite nice! (That's supposed to be a surprise tone.) She was wearing a Malandrino dress which she paired with nude peeptoes. I quite liked her hairstyle too, it's a change from her usual style. Minka Kelly & Leighton Meester (co-stars in new suspense flick "The Roommate") looked so great! I especially love how Leighton played with colour - from those gorgeous coral earrings to the smashing Vionnet dress. Both wore Brian Atwood heels and Minka was carrying a Bottega Venneta knot clutch.

*Update - Minka Kelly's wearing a Vivienne Westwood dress.
